Absolutely insane, really wish I could have seen that one. Now all I need is a Michigan State win, followed by a BG victory and I've got one helluva day!

We'll never repeat that feat- I doubt that Uof M will invite us back. I definitely could see the first half of the equation happening again.NY-BG-FAN wrote:I think Toledo will probably be the only team to lose to Florida International University and beat the University of Michigan in the same season for a very long time.

As a top anti-rocket aficionado, I tip my hat with unexpected glee following the Rocket's fine effort and win against Michigan. You did not simply win, you actually beat them, and that specific point will grind away like a bur in their jock straps for months and years to come. UT might have had smaller guys, but they made UM look like it was standing still.
And Ohio State will almost certainly whip them again, they'll miss a bowl game, and the misery shall only deepen. Not even sure why I am enjoying UM suffering as much as I do at the moment.

Life changes can be for better or for worse..right now it doesn't look so good and the fire rich rod calls are already coming out..You really don't think that might cause some second guessing or regret?Redwingtom wrote:If he is a complete moron and bases a life changing decision on a handful of games, then you are 100% correct!tekekini wrote:Think Dick Rod regrets leaving WVU??????
LOL I want to see him cry!
R.R. is at risk of becoming to Michigan what Bob Davie was for Notre Dame, the start of a long painful decade or two of lousy football utterly unworthy of the schools legacy.
Davie made a mistake in correctly shifting from traditional ND style football to the spread, but got spooked when the boosters didn't like the early losing. So he tried to steer back to base course, and when they looked better, which you would expect them too, he wound up forced to reverse his recruiting. Net result, he never managed to recruit a full slate of anybody able to run either system well.

R.R. teams are traditionally bad in their first year. I figured with so much talent at Michigan and with so many more kids working out of the spread in high school he may avoid those trends, but history has repeated itself.
At Tulane, his team allowed more sacks than they gained first downs in his first year as OC. Not sure about his coordinating days at Clemson, but as HC at WVU, 3-8 in first year, 9-4 in second, and WVU ran an entirely different offense before he showed up. So long story short, the offense will succeed in the Big 10, its just going to take time to get there. And their AD is loyal as a dog to his coaches - ask Lloyd Carr and Tommy Amacker (sp?) about that one - they both would have been let go a long time ago under many other ADs.

The rumor mill already has him leaving for Clemson.
He even had to mention it in his press conference today that he has no interest in the job. Not always, but certainly a lot of times that means he has thought about, it leaked and in 3 or 4 weeks when it is a known fact UM will not go to a bowl game he will be Clemson's head coach.
The way he left Wva...I wouldn't put it past him.
