Brown Jerseys
Brown Jerseys
Anyone know when we will be wearing them? I just ordered one in time for the game on Saturday...#18 for former Buffalo Bills draft pick Brian McClure of course.

I'm not sure they will be wearing the brown unis anytime soon. Based on the recent cycle of 3 seasons for a uniform they should be shelved. But one of the seasons I am counting they only wore the brown during the Toledo game of 2005.
2001,2002,2003- orange/white drop shadow numbers with small falcon head on collar (MCB)
2004,2005,2006- orange/white "bow-tie" panels, with fanged pants, (GMAC Bowl), Brown jersey makes appearance in 2005 UT game, worn as primary home in 2006
2007- orange top was 04-06 jersey with BG placed over falcon head on chest, brown jersey was still there, new road whites with orange/brown on shoulders
2008- new orange top is inverse of 07 road whites, road whites stay, will we see brown again???
all bowling green
Yeah, I refuse to buy another orange or white jersey, because the design changes so frequently it's hard to keep up. At least with the brown, I have a true "throwback" that never goes out of style, and got to pick the number. I also like it because it says Bowling Green on it, so people know right away without asking. I hope we break them out again, that's a good look for at least one game a year.
Last year the night before the homecoming game I ran into Brian McClure at Trotters...that was pretty cool.

That was pretty much my rationale for getting a brown jersey as well- throwback BOWLING GREEN on there.
But then the current road whites and home oranges came out and since they are almost like a design I mocked up on here a few years ago I had to get them because I think they are really sharp.
I still wish adidas provided us with replica jerseys to buy....

I have my old school game-worn white jersey, which I really like. Noah's Josh Harris-era orange jersey is almost too small. Geez, I can't believe I just typed that. It hung off him when I first picked it up in 2003!
Of course, he's got a long way to go before he grows into his own game-worn white jersey.

At the bookstore and Dunhams, I actually did see some BGSU adidas jerseys. However, they weren't actual replicas...the jersey numbers were the right font and the adidas logo was on them, but they were missing all the rest of the normal trim. Not worth buying for me, but it was something from adidas. If they can get those out there, I wonder why adidas can't just make normal replica jerseys for us.Dayons_Den wrote:That was pretty much my rationale for getting a brown jersey as well- throwback BOWLING GREEN on there.

Yeah I've seen that jersey here:

Almost looks like a practice jersey.
I agree, if adidas can put this out there for $50, why not make a replica and sell it for $75?
adidas will probably look at it and say "well the first jersey we put out for Bowling Green didn't sell, so why should we even bother with a replica..."

Hopefully not anytime soon.....I LOVE the orange ones!NY-BG-FAN wrote:Anyone know when we will be wearing them?
GO BG!!!
I guess I'm the minority, but I really don't like the orange at all and much prefer the brown. It's more unique, more attractive with the white pants, and the orange ones are just too close in color to both OkSt and OrSt, so it just doesn't stand out as unique to me. Am I alone in preferring the brown?

The orange is fine as our primary jersey. I just think we should wear the "throwbacks" at least once or twice a season.MarkL wrote:I guess I'm the minority, but I really don't like the orange at all and much prefer the brown. No. I prefer brown, too. Every home game in which the team chooses not to wear brown as the dominant color is a small disappointment to me. Brown is a color we can own. Lots of schools already wear orange.MarkL wrote:I guess I'm the minority, but I really don't like the orange at all and much prefer the brown. What I'd like to see is an alternative home jersey in the current style, but with brown as the alternative color.
I love my throwback style brown jersey, but not everyone likes that style. An updated brown jersey -- in the current style, which is the best we've seen in Bowling Green since that classic 1970s/80s look -- would be great.
Brown is better. It honors coaches like Doyt Perry and Don Nehlen.
If you all want to pay homage to Gary Blackney and his "innovation" of orange jerseys, go ahead

have we ever won with the brown jerseys? i understand how many of you like the brown one and what it means as a throwback but the current ones are just fugly. they look like a pop warner jersery that a 5th grader designed. i dunno, maybe if they came up with a different design then i might be into the brown. also it just looks weird with orange helmets.
