A win is a win.

But it was lucky. The way this team plays it was lucky they managed to pull heads out of their rear-ends and bail out the game. It was lucky the same way several games were lucky wins last year. This isn't a team playing exceptionally well, and I don't know if it ranks as even the third best team in the MAC right now. When you stink that badly and manage to win, it is lucky. They might have fought hard in pulling it out, but someday the other team won't prove as willing, and the luck will run out.

In any case, if it wasn't luck, beating Akron, then it was simply rank lousy play and coaching that lost two other games at least, and maybe even a third given their "noble" late game efforts elsewhere.

If BGSU is to be anything other than a mediocre underachiever, it has a lot to pull together, and hold together the rest of the year. Just stumbling into a title game they lose is not reason to cheer like they won a national title.

I'm glad they won, I pray they win this week, but until they backup the luck with solid 60 minutes of play a few weeks in a row, it remains luck.

We were also "lucky" to hold Boise to 20 points at home and force 7 punts out of 7 possessions for them in the second half. We were also "lucky" to crush Wyoming with 45 points and 388 total yards while No. 14 ranked Utah had only 242 yards against them and scored 40 points. We were also "lucky" to beat 23rd ranked Pitt Panthers at their place giving them their only loss of the season.

Yeah, basically.

Until they prove they can play without looking like crap for 30 to 40 minutes, lucky about sums things up.

We are lucky they aren't playing worse than they are right now. Otherwise this season could have started worse than it has. We are lucky they haven't totally screwed their season up, as opposed to having played lousy half the time and pulled some of the games out.

NWLB, quit your bitchin. Yes we fumbled away a possible victory against Minnesota. Yes we absolutely overlooked EMU and lost a game that we never should have lost in a million years. But the fact is that we've also had some very good efforts, beating Pittsburgh on the road, rallying from 13 down in the fourth to beat Akron, and putting up a spirited effort in Boise. Could we be 1-5 right now? Possibly. But we could also be 5-1 or 6-0 very easily too. You need to pull yourself up and stop being such a downer. You blame the coaching staff for everything when we lose, but you give them no credit for a hard-fought victory. Where's the consistency there?

I'm a realist here, and if that offends anybody, I don't especially care.
But I'm not interested in mindless white washing of reality. So if you, or anybody doesn't like being reminded, ignore me, I won't care about that either.

They won, greatly, I'm happy, or more accurately, I am revealed. Like I said in the other thread, this kind of "hard fought" win is getting tiresome to watch. Having to watch a talented team bail itself out of a hole week after week, lead by a discount coaching staff, is exactly the problem.

I'm sorry the world isn't full of Kook-aid drinking Pollyannas to keep you and others company.

I'm glad they won. I hope they win this week. I hope the program is on a solid footing by the end of the year.

Discount is right...110th out of 120 in salary. Yes indeed what a discount/deal we have in Brandon. I knew we would see eye to eye, NWLB.

True, dollar for dollar, we are getting what we pay for, that is for sure.

Glad we could agree.

If you're happy we won, you have a really odd way of showing it.

And since when am I a kool-aid drinking optimist?? I'm sure that BO, RUIT, or any of the veterans will tell you that is most definitely not true.

I think they held the Kook-aid concert in 1985 right after Live Aid. Live Aid benefitted Ethiopia and Kook Aid was supposed to help the people who liked the new Coke, but nobody liked the new Coke so Bob Geldof just kept the money and bought a new Jag

One word for this win: GREAT! A win is win in my book. While I'd rather see us out there rolling teams from week to week, as long as we have more points on the scoreboard when the clock reads 00:00, I'm a happy man.
