Agreed. Kennedy is a pretty good back and he was having a great night against us. Why get fancy when we were having trouble stopping him?Rollo83 wrote:On the postgame show on the Akron radio network, Brookhart said the call was for a statue of liberty play. That was a piss poor coaching decision then...instead of getting fancy, Akron should have given the ball to Kennedy.
Based on the way that the play developed, I don't put that one on JD. The score was there for the taking, but the players botched it.
Take the coaches out of the discussion and we had two different Falcon football teams last night. One was very lethargic and didn't play well. The other looked like a bunch of kids that actually enjoyed playing football. They flew around the field and had fun in that fourth quarter. I wasn't at the Rubber Bowl, but it certainly looked like the first time that our guys were really having fun since the Pitt game.

... and why use a trick play when you're already up on an opponent that has been struggling on defense already? Save those sorts of plays for when the game is on the line, like potentially in the upcoming games vs Buffalo and Temple.Falconfreak90 wrote:Agreed. Not terrible. Terribly inconsistent.
If this team plays to it's ability, it will not be tested again until the MACC against Ball State or Central. Since there's about a 50/50 chance of "good BG" showing up any given week, that gives us about a 1.6% chance to win out. Luckily, we don't need to do that to win the East, so I think we're in good position in spite of our flaws.

Roll Along!
Terrible team? We beat the #24 team in the nation - Pittsburgh, their sole loss. We hung with undefeated #15 Boise State. We lost to a Minnesota team that is obviously better than we thought (defeated Illinois).
I think we are guilty of overlooking EMU. Hopefully that lesson is learned and we run the table from here.

Your right. Three of the six teams BG played are currently ranked.dstubb wrote:Terrible team? We beat the #24 team in the nation - Pittsburgh, their sole loss. We hung with undefeated #15 Boise State. We lost to a Minnesota team that is obviously better than we thought (defeated Illinois).

Anything stand out in this quote by Partridge or is it just me?
"The identity of the team is the same as it's always been. We are up and down, which is something we're working on every week to try to stay consistent and take care of the details. Coach Brandon's done a good job of getting us ready for these games, and this week versus Miami is going to be the same thing. We're going to come out, work hard in practice, work harder than we have before, and hopefully get a win at home."[/b]

Your vindication in Bowling Green struggling is making no one feel better, whether they are in favor of the current coaching staff or not.poorlycoachedbgsu wrote:can we start this thread back up since i was right all along. once again the coaching sucks and so do lots of the tools on this board who doubted me

Congratulations - I am soooooo happy for you that you were soooooo right and everyone else was soooooo wrong. Thank God that BG could suffer another dissapointing loss so that there could be no doubt who is the smartest on these boards.poorlycoachedbgsu wrote:can we start this thread back up since i was right all along. once again the coaching sucks and so do lots of the tools on this board who doubted me

Seriously man, shut up and get over yourself. Obviously, Brandon and the the coaching staff has its faults, and the team is painfully inconsistent. I don't think there is anyone that pays a lick of attention to BG Football that doesn't know these things. You are not enlightening anyone, but from what I can tell, you are annoying the hell out of everyone.
