I would further surmise that with the advent of the No Huddle Offense, that once a team approaches the line of scrimmage, the band needs to stop playing.
Technically, if they don't huddle, then they can't break from the huddle and the band can play til the ball is snapped, right? Just saying!

Okay, let's just end this one before it starts...or at least shortly after it starts.

If there isn't a football game at the Doyt, does anyone show up to watch the band?

I find irony in your signature.

Really, I do.

Great idea. He probably doesn't attend games and hence is unaware that this travesty takes place.

let me repeat.

YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PLAY WHEN THERE IS ACTION ON THE FIELD.

I thought your own people made that clear to you last week. Yet your leaders decided that they were going to play with action on the field yet again. Whoever is leading the band needs to be removed, and maybe the band shouldn't be allowed to play at all. Per the NCAA's own website:
6. Persons subject to the rules, including bands, shall not create any
noise that prohibits a team from hearing its signals (Rule 1-1-6).

PENALTY—Dead-ball foul. 15 yards [S7 and S27] from the succeeding
spot. Flagrant offenders, if players or substitutes, shall be
disqualified [S47].
Is this another facet of the "wussification of America" you so deplore, or are marching bands just inherently more dangerous than 85 players apparently trying to taunt their opponents into a pre-game fight?

Yes. DCI and marching band competitions are quite common, and draw good numbers of fans.

For those of you looking for a crib sheet on the above exchange, R4E didn't see any true harm in our players taunting the Miami players as they were coming out of the locker room.

I had to go back over to hawktalk to put the two and two together.

My favorite quote of R4E is this: "Do you think this is the worst of what was being said or done during the game?"

Nope, the band playing Ay-Ziggy-Zoomba at the snap was far worse than the players of Gregg Brandon's Program galloping over to Miami and taunting them like thugs.

Actually yeah, the parents of the kids in the band! Really though, if there is a football game at the Doyt, is anyone going to show up to watch that anymore?

I was at the LSU/USC game the other night, sat near the LSU band, they rock. They know their place, when there is action going, they are quiet and watch, and then they played between plays. It was a blast. And they didn't start the wave either.

I know a couple people that are still stuck in traffic with the State Fair going on!

Williams-Brice at night is a FUN time. Went to the USC/Florida game last year and had a blast.

my favorite is about this whole thing is that you continue to complain about it on the FOOTBALL forum, if you have something to say to members of the FMB, say it on the band forum you sissy! I can honestly say I don't give a sh*t about BG's football, I go to see the band. If you have an issue with that, take it up with Dr. Hayward yourself and quit posting about it like a teenage girl. Just because it was said on this forum in the past doesn't mean that all 219 people in the band saw it, or that the drum majors saw it, or that the people TELLING the drum majors what to do during the game saw it...or that anyone that DID see it really gives a crap what you say.
that is all.
