That doesn't come close to blowing.

John Cooper had a good overall record but he too blowed!!!

Compared to Tressel and Woody Hayes, yeah, Cooper left something to be desired.

Put Brandon in context, though.

His win total puts him one win shy of Warren Steller's total. Once he gets past Steller on that all-time list. The next name is Don Nehlen.

His winning percentage puts him squarely between Steller and Nehlen and ahead of Blackney and Stolz. He already has as many winning seasons as Blackney & Stolz.

Do I think Brandon is one of the greatest coaches BG has ever had? Probably not (at least not yet). And I respect that some folks here believe he's not "good enough." But the idea that he's awful seems extreme.

Nothing personal, simply putting another option out there.

Have at it. Would be nice if it were something deeper than, "you blow."
poorlycoachedbgsu wrote: and why are you so defensive on behalf of brandon. you were not the one being denigrated.
Everyone has an opinion of Brandon. Mine happens to be largely positive. If you are allowed to bash him, it only makes sense that other should be expected to defend him.
poorlycoachedbgsu wrote: and on the penalties and breakdowns.... yes other coaches have them but not like this one. this team is too experienced and talented to be making these mistakes.
I will respectfully disagree.
poorlycoachedbgsu wrote: comparing brandon to tressel? thats a good one. tressel runs an elite (incredible) program and his team RARELY makes stupid mistakes. they just choke in big games, but at least he gets them there. brandon would piss himself in tressel's shoes.
Maybe so. Simply showing that a talented and experienced team can make the same mistakes for which you are criticizing the Falcons, actually, Coach Brandon.

And I'm not so sure that Brandon couldn't have coached that Buckeyes team to a four TD beating against USC.

Warthog: Interesting thought there ... I've seen the Falcons conditioning program in action and would be surprised if they aren't, by and large, in great shape. But the time change, long trip, etc. may have taken a toll.

are the above personal attacks on me ok mr. moderator?

I must tell you, 1987alum, you need to stop taking your anger out on other people with cold, heartless, creepy comments like that one.
