Reason Bradon Will Not Be Back

I have come up with a list of reason that I think are legit to why BG wont bring back Brandon.

1. Horrible Year- Losing at Home just can not be tolerate

2. Losing Control- Player contstantly in trouble academically and legally I know think is part of athletics today, but it has been increasing over the last 3 years at BG.

3. Athletic Director and New President- Both will want to place their stamp on the program.

4. Administration- Most of it thinks Brandon is well... let say "CRASS" and thats being nice (Frame of reference I worked in the Deans office and Provost Office during Brandon's Tenure). Let just say they will look for reason to ask for his head

5. Simply Bad Coaching... Bradon gets out coached almost ever game.. I know the play call and I do not even watch flim like opposing coaches.

6. Current Football Culture- What have you done for me latley... Bowl Game Debacle and Season thus far

I think we might want to place a call down to URBIE to see if he has an upcoming assistant that coaches WR

Bradon might not be back next year, but Coach Brandon probably will.

Maybe there should be a fire brandon forum.

Cole is an unpaid grad assistant, I am sure he is ready to coach D-1. The "new" athletic director, just gave Brandon an extension.

I still think tapping a football coach of his own is on the agenda ... I am sorry of the miss spelling although when I see comment about spelling and not content I tend to do this

What is your tendency when someone points out that there should be the word "a" before "comment" in your posts? I already know your tendencies if I were to comment on your misspelling of misspelling.

I know we all assumed that Gregg Christopher was going to bring in Cuonzo Martin for the basketball job because of his ties to Purdue, but perhaps football actually sets up much better for him.

Purdue has a "coach-in-waiting" being the former EKU head coach on staff. This leaves two very intriguing possibilities for BGSU.

1) Brock Spack, Purdue's DC. I know that you usually don't think of Purdue's defense, but no coach has done more with less talent over the years than Spack. He recruits athletes and develops them very well. Has consistently put talent in the league and deserves a HC job. He has also been at Purdue enough to have learned some of the spread or be familiar enough with it to find offensive coaches to keep it in place at BG, which I feel is a requirement for any new coach beyond Brandon (this year or next).

2) Ed Zaunbrecher, Purdue's OC. Again, the spread influences are there. Before Purdue and Pre-Urban Meyer, he was the OC at Florida for Ron Zook. Considered by many to be very innovative on offense. I don't believe he has ever been the "man" before and that could raise some issues.

There are many many more candidates who will get tons of pub before this is all done and settled, but those are two names that Gregg Christopher has in his cell phone that would be worth a call.

Let's not put the cart before the horse here. Gregg Brandon is our head coach. He has a contract. Unless anything drastic happens, he's our head coach next year and the year after. There has not been a single indication by anybody in any position of power that this is not accurate. All anybody has done is speculated and that really gets us nowhere ... just a thought.

I would look at someone from the Missouri staff, Florida staff of course. I like Zook and the Illinois staff too. I dislike the OSU staff. They under achieve.
Someone with some energy and fire to motivate would be greatly appreciated at this point. Our guys don't seem to be fired up defensively, as much as I would like. I think we still need the spread offense to compete, so I like anyone coming from those type of programs. A defensive head coach, with our current OC given more of a green light authority to be creative and aggressive, might make a huge difference in my book.

A solid Ohio valley recruiting coach would be a plus.

Maybe we should have a job description thread.

Honestly, I don't think he is going to get fired which is a shame. But if he did, I wouldn't care where they hired from as long as they got the right guy. Spread offense or wishbone, I could care less as long as he won the right way and fixed this program.

Use FireFox, it has a spell check option. Now if it only had a grammar check....

That aside, people keep saying BGSU won't fire somebody, and typically it is a money issue. Folks say there isn't money enough among the boosters to do it. They said there wasn't a lot of private money for a convo center either. Now that they finally broke down and said they are doing something, the million dollar donors are lining up.

No, I think the money is there, and I think it has been since before Blackney. It is the stubborn unwillingness to do so that has prevented it. We have an interim president, a long-term search underway for her replacement. And the previous president wasn't especially keen on spending money on athletics, much less to fire coaches.

So we may be screwed. However, we do have an interim president. And axing Brandon, if private money could be found to either buy him out totally and at once, or spread-out over the term of his contract, might happen. A new president might not want the mess to clean up. If the trustees, athletic director, and power donors align, it could happen.

So I'm more curious to know how well grounded Brandon is politically. That may be the real deciding factor. And what are the terms of his contract? The last point being something we likely can't find out.
