Probably not but to the contrary , the Stroh Center will be exactly what we need if its built right. I love Anderson Arena for the intimacy and crowd noise factor it brings us but its definitely outdated and we have been way over due for an upgrade in this regard. Sorry I don't quite agree with you though.

AA sucks. It had it's glory days in the way distant past, but it's crumbling. We need a new arena BAD.DustinXtreme wrote:who thinks this new arena thing is a bad idea? i hope not

The powers that be have already decided it would more expensive to try and renovate Anderson , bring it up to code and all that. AA just has too many shortcomings for a real good renovation to be done , especially one that we can afford at this point in time. Savage Hall has a lot more going for it as far as renovations is concerned.DustinXtreme wrote:ok look here is an explanation

Okay, look. Here is an explanation: Toledo just renovated Savage Hall instead of building a new arena. We should do the same thing instead of building a new arena, that looks weird I might add. Renovate Anderson Arena. Also, AA has legacy and the new one will not. Anderson Arena is "The House that Roars."DustinXtreme wrote:ok look here is an explanation

I still hate the idea of a new arena.DustinXtreme wrote:but still hate the idea of a new arena

A new arena, in the location it's being built, will also put an end to the parking struggles we've had to endure with Anderson Arena.
I know for a fact that the long walk from who-knows-where in winter in BG kept a lot of non-students away from basketball and volleyball games. A new arena with parking directly attached will be a big benefit to those of us who don't live on campus, and with the shuttle buses it's only slightly less convenient for current on-campus attendees.
I appreciate your concern, Dustin, but what makes you think the new arena "looks weird?"
The only "official" rendering of it I've seen is this one:

And if you ask me... that's gorgeous!!!

I think the Stroh Center is a great idea. AA has definitely seen its better days. Im almost embarrassed to take my old friends to BB games, b/c our high school gym is more updated than AA. Renovating might work but the cost would be almost the same as building a new facility. How could you turn that down?? As for legacy, no new building is going to have legacy when its first built. Thats the exciting thing.....creating a new legacy for the Stroh, and hopefully adding to the prestige of our programs. A new, larger area could also attract more 'top notch' competition to come play us at home. Its a win-win if you ask me. I dont see a single bad thing about it.
