Once again, BG was brought up about Auburn not making it to the NC.

Do you think Auburn being left out will finally force top 1-A schools to get the 1-AA schools off their schedules, I for one sure hope so.

Trev Alberts: (1:05 PM ET ) I think that is certainly something people have to think about. Auburn was schedule to play Bowling Green but ended up playing OU. Few people remember that. I think this will be part of the equation now.

I was curious about that.....why was the Auburn-Bowling Green game cancelled anyway?

Based on some positive feedback from high school coaches in Texas, the decsion was made to begin recruiting in that state. The thought was that taking trip to Norman would help to build a name in that region. Playing at Auburn didn't figure to help us other than providing a pay day.

Because Oklahoma offered us more money!!! When BCS schools are raking in the $$$ from their fat TV deal, we have to scrape for all we can get. When OU offered $100,000 more than Auburn, it was a quick decision.

A few non-sequitors...

1) Trev Alberts = puss-excreting brain fart

2) The way he phrased his answer, he's actually saying that Auburn played OU instead of Bowling Green. Yes, I know what he meant. But that's not what he said.

3) Trev Alberts = amoeba-brained egomaniac

4) He said "I think this will be part of the equation now." What, exactly, will be part of which equation :?: Thanks for giving a meaningless non-answer to a question that would allow someone with any depth of knowledge a chance to clarify the situation.

5) Trev Alberts = vomitous mass on legs

So seriously, 1987....what are you trying to say....?

Oh, and believe me....I think it's great you guys screwed Auburn. Being down here in $EC country, the very idea of the undefeated $EC champion getting left out of the championship game just puts a huge smile on my face... :D

Auburn had plenty of time, months in face to try and get another game. At the time they chose THE CITADEL because they wanted a win and they didn't even think they would be in a NC situation until about 4 weeks ago. You did not hear anyone complaining back then, just after they realized "Hey we may finish third, so lets look for an excuse now"

Wasn't the pay increase from $300,000 to $500,000?

So you guys hate the SEC down there liek we hate the Bigg 11 up here? Thats awesome! I for one think USC should be the 3rd wheel but not like that matters, someone had to be left out, adn Auburn was them. I think Cal got screwed more than they did, Texas is not a deserving team.

Man, "hate" isn't even a strong enough word for it. We are surrounded by $EC garbage down here. We've got Ole Miss, Miss. State, Alabama, Arkansas, Vanderbilt, and UT all within a few hours' driving distance. The people who graduate those schools come to Memphis to get jobs....so it's like a big melting pot of fans in this city.

So it had basically always been a daily fight to get our own media to notice us in football.....at least that held true until just a couple years ago, when we started winning. These days, we do receive a VERY nice chunk of media coverage down here......well, in the city of Memphis, anyway.

The rest of Tennessee doesn't acknowledge that we're a part of the state.....they're too wrapped up in Puke Urnge Nation over in Knoxville....yes, I said "urnge"....that's how the word is pronounced in that part of the state.

LOL...nothing personal, of course.....down here, it's a Memphis fan's natural reaction to spit or curse when we see that color....

But at least your shade of orange is different from those hillbillies over in Knoxpatch.....so it's all good.. :D

Actually, I attended U.Tenn. for a summer workshop for guidance counselors MANY yrs. ago...right around the time they were putting in their 1st artificial turf, and well before the expansion of the stadium... I always felt their "urnge" as you put it, was more tangerine than true ORANGE...and to support a previous post, it was my understanding that the OU game did indeed give us 500K over Auburn's 300K..... We aren't dumb...bucks count!

BINGO! If the BCS wants to keep us outta the money pot, then we'll do what we have to do.
