OK...so I've had 24 hours to cool off. I went on a tantrum yesterday and probably should have just stayed away from the PC. Difficult losses and beer do not mix well with me but that's how I was feelin' so that's what I typed. Do I take this program too seriously? Probably.
But it's been very difficult watching this team, picked by many to win the East, sit at 3-5. Mrs. Freak asked if I was really gonna skip the Kent game...I told her I thought about it seriously...for a few minutes. LOL. Hell, I'll be there. You know I will. I haven't missed a BG home game since Sept 6, 1997, when we beat Miami (of all teams) 28-21. I was in my friend's wedding in Buffalo that day. There are seniors on this team that have busted their butts for 4-5 years and are coming to the end of their careers. I want to see them all play until the end. I want to believe badly that this team can regroup and win out...finish 7-5, 5-3 MAC and get to the MACC.
I'm a FALCON and always will be...no matter what.

The frustration about the program should never be apologized for, Freak. I'm going to go to the last 2 home games because they will be my last as a student here, but as far as caring about the outcome, I'm not going to worry about that. I can't get myself worked up about a game when the coaching staff calls stupid plays and our defense can't stop simple running plays. I'm just gonna go to the games and enjoy the times I've had at the Doyt, because this year has painfully washed a lot of those memories away with the high expectations.
What's a shame is looking back at the MAC 4-5 years ago, and seeing the 3 perennial powerhouses, BG, Toledo, and Miami being a combined 7-17 this year. BG football to me now has become nothing more than a chore to watch, and while I will still want them to win, the emotional investment just won't be there these last 4 weeks.

I'm hoping that my PM to you helped get you back on track...I hope you knew that I was only half kidding about what I typed...knew you'd be here on Saturday... hopefully, I'll be bringing FOUR extra people with me, as long as my OSU daughter doesn't back out on me at the last minute. ("Dad, if it's raining, we probably won't come"). You'd think I'd have her trained right after all these years, but the Columbus influence has been too great I guess. At least she saw her alma mater lose Saturday too.
Education our Challenge, Excellence our goal. (look it up)

I've got 80' of elm tree laying in the backyard if you need more "chainsaw action".Flipper wrote:I'm skipping this one...another Saturday of 2 hours of kickboxing drills, yard work and maybe...just maybe...some chainsaw action on the back trails followed by a really big ass bonfire.
Hopefully BCSn will carry it and I can DVR it.

She isn't the only one working for the company that ponied up $10 Mil for that Akron Stadium. I'm there now, too.JohnnySwoop '85 wrote:Seriously????
You are actually putting MAC Championships behind family??? You? Even with the wife working toward the greater cause of sponsoring that new stadium?
