This what I'm worried about partly if we don't build a little larger than what we have now. What is it that "top notch" programs want when going on the road? The ability to sell more tickets than what we have available in AA sized facilities. I'm afraid that if we just build another 5k arena we wont' be doing ourselves any favors in getting some more top programs to come to our place.BgWaRrIoR wrote:. A new, larger area could also attract more 'top notch' competition to come play us at home. Its a win-win if you ask me. I dont see a single bad thing about it.

OK. And I still think that you're wrong.DustinXtreme wrote:i still thinks it's a bad idea
Hopefully, when it's built, we'll all end up loving it more than we ever imagined!

How can you disagree with such a lengthy and well-reasoned argument? You need to open your mind!ZiggyZoomba wrote:OK. And I still think that you're wrong.DustinXtreme wrote:i still thinks it's a bad idea

I agree. We should build with a capacity of about 7K, with a plan for expansion if needed. Always need to think about the future.Falconboy wrote:This what I'm worried about partly if we don't build a little larger than what we have now. By the way, does anyone know which site they decided to built it on?

I think 6k to 6500 is a good starting point IMO. We should definitely build it in a way that could be expanded if we ever get to that point.BgWaRrIoR wrote:I agree. I think it looks like the Kibbie Dome out in Idaho:BGFalconfromCincy wrote:I agree, to me it actually looks like the inside of Miami's new hockey arena in some ways

The Kibbie Dome, IMO, is one of the coolest venues in all of college sports - anything similar sounds AWESOME.

I hate the idea of someone tripping over one of the buckets or trash cans that are set out when the snow on the roof starts to melt and leaks in and onto the floor and bleachers...
I hate the idea of someone in a wheelchair wanting to see a basketball or volleyball game and then wanting to use the restroom at Anderson Arena.
I hate the idea of my 90+ year old grandmother walking from the lot behind the cemetary to a game, over ruts, through mud and dark pathways... in January because there's no available parking close.
I hate thinking of looking at that same scoreboard with its burned out lights for another unspecified length of time.
I could go on and on... but I don't want to have to pay for the extra storage space it would take up on the server to list ALL of Anderson Arena's shortcomings.
I love Anderson more than just about ANYONE on here I think... I have lots of reasons for that, some public, some private, but the time has come to move FORWARD. The teams, the students, the coaches and the fans DESERVE a new, state-of-the-art venue, and thanks to the generosity of many people, we're all going to get one.

CHEAPSKATE!
A good grandson would have spent the extra $$$ on a Falcon Club parking permit and drop her off at the front door of Memorial Hall so she didn't have to trudge all the way from the lot behind the cemetery to a game, over ruts, through mud and dark pathways... in January.
