Maybe our coach can follow Toledo Tom. Blackney did it, now Toledo Tom did it. Maybe our coach will think it is a great idea.

Brandon please do us all a favor. You can make more cash going to a big school and being an assistant. Forget the ego and do what is best for this school.

GO BG!!

Probably, but not statistically. We're 2 and 6 with four games to go. Miami visits before BG. Do you really think any home team is likely to lose to Miami ? And the Med school has already helped recruiting much as your engineering school has helped you.
The Med school is why UT will truly become better than it was. It will pair back the pointless attempt at being a liberal arts University, focus on what even I note they do well, and in the end, something better comes of the merger.

I think most folks would agree UT has better leadership because of MCO taking them over. And truth be told, I am looking the moves at UT with keen interest. Will they spend big on a top notch coach? Or will they go cheap like BGSU did with Brandon. Plus, if they did "reassign" Stutz, it is a model for how BGSU could handle such things. And though UT has had a far far worse run than BGSU, but that they took the action they did should be duly noted in Wood county.

In any case, UT has issues playing teams in Red. We'll see. The season is already over for UT, the coach is a goner, BG looms as what they might see as a weak home target, etc. I think Akron beats UT. Miami could lose to UT. What in gods name happens to BGSU I can't say. A lose to UT would be like tossing lighter fluid onto thins down here. I'd rather they win.

Philip Fulmer is resigning at the end of the year, too. College football is getting a whole lot lighter next season.

I guess guys don't want to do the workouts, if their coaches can't do them. It will be interesting to see what direction UT tries to go in. If they are more committed to academics, they will look for a good budget replacement. I could also see them going for a better known name as well. I do not think the will go SMU and sign a coach for 2 mill a year.

I would guess that the reassignment to another job will let him reach a state retirement milestone while buying out his contract at the same time.

To be fair and nice, the guy seems exceptionally well liked among his fellow Rocket alumni. He did win two titles for them, and the last few years aside, he remains a marketable figure at events and such.

He made it clear to all he only wanted to be at UT, and that has an effect on things both good and bad. He'll at least have a plausible ability to go out on "his terms," and not have to live in town as the guy that got shown the door when he couldn't keep things going.

I'm amazed the Toledo media acted on TV as though he were truly safe.

I sat behind a couple of UT coeds at the Bighouse. They worked for the athletic department, and apperently "dated" a player or 3. They said that these guys smoked, drank and partied on weeknights. They also backstabbed the coaches and one another.

Amazing that they beat Michigan.

So I listened to the press conference at work and got a real laugh. So, according to the AD, there will be a big reception for him after the BG/UT game at Tony Packo's ... yup.

That AD makes my heckling FAR too easy!!

If it is an all you can eat buffet, he will break UT's bank. Yet at the same time, pork futures will be on the rise. Can you say investment opportunities?

....And according to the toledo board, the BG game will be Tom Amstutz Day....wow....
 Is it just me or does this seem strange after all the crap that has gone on in his program? He may be a really nice guy, but.... :smt017

Not everyone is patting good ole Tom on the back, though:

Read part way down to UT_Rockets' post and utpotts' reply.
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."
