...then you probably never will be!

Awesome win last night! They overcame a lot of penalties and Jordan had one of his best games of the season so far. It sounded like we were really crashing the boards from what I heard, but we did take a lot of penalties. I think we need to not get sucked into MSU's downward spiral of frustration tonight and let them take all of the penalty minutes. It sounded to me last night like MSU is a team in turmoil right now -- broken and frustrated. I can't say I have a problem with that, so let's kick 'em while they're down! :D

Oh yeah: Take that Falconboy!

Well stated, B.O.!!! Even though we ended up with the split with State, we cannot over look the fact that we won AT MUNN!! Attendance last night was great and the crowd was loud!! Good to see people stick around for most of the game too!! This team is exciting to watch. Hang in there with us people, this team is only going to get better and better!!!

GO ICERS!!!

Get Your Tickets For Michigan Next Saturday!

Post by BGSU99 »

Hey FF -- You will see Michelle and I next Saturday! I am expecting an even bigger crowd for the game against the Wolvereenies, so I got us some seats in section F in case this one sells out. Ordered 'em online. Can't wait to see everyone! We've won at Munn ... let's get one at Yost Friday night, then go for the sweep Saturday night! This team is definitely for real! Too bad we didn't have Sig in the net last night. Four goals would have been enough to win that game. Hopefully as the season goes on, we can stay out of the penalty box. MSU's power play got them a couple of goals last night and that turned out to be the difference. Still, I really am enjoying the effort and fight in this team! Pooch has done a nice job recruiting and it's showing. We look deeper than in the recent past. Even after last night's defeat, we're still right in the CCHA race at 4th.

I was at the MSU game Sat.

Post by Falconboy »

My first hockey game to be exact. I was kinda fun. Gosh, it looked at as though somebody gave the goalie Frazee some depressants before the game! :? If it hadn't been for a late mad dash run to make a little close , this game could've been 10-1 MSU. I heard Siggy was sick for the game. Man, hope that doesnt last long, cuz the backups looked a little clueless for the most part of the game, seemingly giving up easy goals at the beginning of every period. :? I would think that the guys would be chomping at the bit to put MSU away for the sweep , but it looked like MSU was more pumped. It seemed we're lethargic. But it was a fairly exciting game nonetheless.

Hey falconboy, there ya go! Glad to hear you made it to your first hockey game, and I'm glad you enjoyed it. Wish we could have gotten a win for you, though...

I don't think we really looked lethargic. Our passing wasn't as crisp as it could be, but with so many freshman on our lines that might not really come around until later in December. Overall I think that MSU was pretty pissed about losing to us at home on Friday. They seemed very hungry, especially in the first period. If, however, we had Siggy in net, that wouldn't have mattered. Four goals would have been more than enough to put a W up on the board. Nothing against Horrell and Frazee, but opposing teams practice shooting pretty hard the week before going up against a goalie like Sigalet, so they come in pretty sharp in that respect. Its hard for backup goalies to go in there and take that kind of onslaught when they don't play and see shots regularly.

That being said, I was still pretty impressed with how tough our guys played even with our goalies giving up 6. It would have been easy for them to roll over being down 3-0 in the first period, but they stuck with it and came back strong. Heck, they could have easily 3 or four more goals in the second. I was sitting right behind the MSU net that period and there were shots that popped up over the goalie that, had they been an inch down, would have been surefire goals.

Anyhow, hopefully Sigalet will be feeling better next week, and hopefully he's got his glove on tight. This will be his real test against the Blue-assed Weasils.

Falconboy, I have a question for you. Please don't take this the wrong way, but how old are you? In the past you have ragged on the hockey team big time and now you admit that this was the first BG game you have seen. Are you in college, high school, or middle school? I'm just curious. It might help us to understand better where you are coming from.

this is a very good team but we can't get our hopes to high. We have to remember that our scoring is coming from freshman and they are going to get tired as the season goes along. Also we still have to beat Michigan 4 times, Ohio St. 2 times and Notre Dame 2 more times.

They will NOT get tired. Matt Messaros, the Strength and Conditioning Coach, has all of these guys in TOP shape!!! He has worked them extremely hard and pushes them constantly. I repeat....they will NOT get tired.

Definitely I don't see tiredness as not a problem as the frosh came from junior where you play at least 30 more games in a season. However, consistency could be a problem until they get it that EVERY game is very important (back in junior you could get away with a few stinker games). Just also wanted to put out there that I know some of the guys signed for next year and they are also top rate. One guy I don't know who came to BG last week for a visit is also going on visits to Wisconsin and Denver. Not bad. Hope he decides for BG as it's the happening team, baby.

I figured things would improve, year over year, but the results this year are very good. The temptation exists to want to be cautious, but the manner in which the team plays, wins, and even loses, don't point to any pending collapse from what I read. Considering that the team historically plays its best hockey towards the closing weeks of the year, what they have done thus far, bodes well for the playoffs. Except for goaltending, the bulk of the results seem to be coming from the younger players as well, which is also good.

Re. to Findly Falcon..

I'm 22 years old. I'm mostly a BG basket ball fan all the way. I grew up on it since I was 5. Got hooked into football a little later. Never really watch hockey to say except maybae during when Team USA plays in the Winter Olympics. I can't really afford to go to too many hockey games with GA tix at $9 , since I go to alot of mens and ladies basketball games. I actually got the two free ones at a local Maro's Pizza here in BG , they were just sitting there waiting for someone to pick em' up. So me and my friend went to the game. I understand that your all way more ingrained with hockey than I will ever be and that you can't wait for us to be good that sport. I understand and I get that you might get offended at times when I don't share your intense enthusiasm just yet. But we do appear to be turning a corner somewhat. I guess we all see just what we're really made of playing Michigan this weekend. Obviously Siggy is one if not the only difference maker in games lately. Hopefully he's back for Michigan. Its too bad that the other goalies don't develop as well as they could when you got a dominate goalie like Siggy who plays every game.
