Hockey Games
The band sounded amazing as always tonight at the hockey game. I swear you are playing like there are 200 of you up there. Keep it up. I wonder if any of you former bandies out there remember a maggot by the name of Pete Cole? He always led us in a song for the visiting team. It would be amazing to get that back into the Ice Arena. There was nothing like hearing several hundred people singing the "box song" to our oppenents. If some of you are interested let me know, I would be more than happy to teach it to you.

I'd like to learn it too!
We tried to get Jeff to let us play the Muppets when the Michigan State team came on the ice, but he didn't think that was a good idea.
Thanks for the props, in any case... even though we did accidentally start to play the fight song when it was time for the national anthem.... oops! lol

The Box Song
Correct me if I'm wrong Matt...
The box song is sung with three minutes left in the third period and is usually accompanied by hand gestures. (not those kind of gestures)
If a had a little box to put my Falcon in,
I'd take him out, pass him around,
And show him to all my friends.
But if I had a little box to put my_________ (opponent of choice) in,
I'd take him out, and SMASH HIS FACE,
And put him right back in!!!
Worked really well with Pete's loud mouth. Saw him a couple years ago at a wedding, he's the same smart mouth he always was. Glad to see some things don't change.

Aww, thanks for the compliment!! We've come a long way from a-band two years ago; I remember how people used to post complaints here about how bad we would sound. The improved quality of the a-bands is one of several positive changes Dr. Hayward brought about when she came here last year. Our new a-band shirts this year are another IMMENSE improvement!! We are a pit crew no more!!

I agree, the band sounded great! I was happy to see them here. Now we need to get the canned music CANNED when the band is here. It drives me nuts when I hear ANY music over the loud speaker when we have a band there!!! I would much rather hear the band playing ANYTHING to get the crowd going at critical points. Being there for more and more games, you will get an idea of when that would be if you aren't that familiar with hockey. Overall, keep up the good work and come back often!! Will you be here for the weasels game???
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

We will be there for all the home games now I believe. Between the 2 bands, we have plenty of home games to play at for all the winter sports! And they are Wolverines, not weaselsFalcon Fanatic wrote:Will you be here for the weasels game???

Ooh, that really burns my cookies too!! I don't get all a-banded up with my orange polo and khakis and mellophone to sit there and listen to "Cotton Eye Joe" for what I wish would be the last time I heard that song but know that, sadly, it won't be.Falcon Fanatic wrote: It drives me nuts when I hear ANY music over the loud speaker when we have a band there!!!
