shouldn't it be the best two for the WHOLE season? I mean that is why they play a 12 game season right? It isn't who looks the best since their last loss. That isn't the way it works in college football. Penn State doesn't have a number in the loss column. Florida does.

End of story.

If a 1 loss Florida somehow would jump Penn State, then I never watch college football again. It will be a joke and show a total 100 % bias in the human polls of the formula.

No way a undefeated BCS team should be left out in favor of a 1 loss team.

The BCS is crap. Yes, Texas Tech hung on and had a nice win. But to jump over PSU? Total BS. The BCS is all politics. They don't want another Big 10 team in it after the last 2 debacles (AKA...Ohio State). But, I'm still confident that both 'Bama and/or Texas Tech will stumble. Penn State can as well, but I don't think they will. PSU is still gonna be playing for a National Championship. JoePa actually knows how to win bowl games. He's the best at it.

I am with you.

On an unrelated note on how stupid the entire system is. When an undefeated Texas beat Oklahoma they shot to #1. So an undefeated Texas Tech team beats Texas, why don't the same pollsters rank them #1. It is just a small petty argument but there is no consistency.

Who has Penn State beat to deserve to be rated that high? Texas Tech has actually beaten someone good.

Texas Tech also plays in a MUCH more competitive conference than the Big 10.

I won't argue strength of schedule, but you can't argue bowl history over the last 3 years. And, yeah, yeah, yeah...we can get into the opponents, but just hear me out.

PSU: Orange Bowl ('05-06) BEAT FSU 26-23
Outback Bowl ('06-07) BEAT #18 Tennessee 20-10. Oh, an SEC team.
Alamo Bowl ('07-08) BEAT Texas A&M 24-17

OSU: Fiesta (05-06) BEAT to ND 34-20
BCS (06-07) LOST to Florida 41-14
BCS (07-08) LOST to LSU 38-24

All I'm sayin' is that PSU shows up for Bowl games. I don't care if it's the BCS game or not. Penn State is the only Big 10 team to go undefeated in bowl games over the last 3 seasons. Wisky is 2-1, and Michigan is 1-2. Bama is 2-1, with wins over Texas Tech and Colorado. Texas Tech is 2-1, with wins over MINNESOTA IN OT, and Virginia.
I realize these are different seasons, different teams, but you can't deny that PSU plays when it comes down to bowls. IF they finish undefeated, they should play for the national championship, and will still finish undefeated.
But, as we all know, time will tell. Lots of ball left. Just my 2 cents.

GO BG!! We can still win the MAC East, um, can we? :?

If Texas Tech, Alabama, and PSU are all undefeated at the end of the season I could live with PSU being left out.

However, if they are jumped by any one loss team I am going to be upset.

SanFran, JoePa knows how to win bowl games period. 23-10-1 lifetime record with wins in all four of the major bowls and the Cotton Bowl. If they go to the BCS championship game it won't be like the past 2.

Well, all of my banter is now officially "moot". PSU will still win there bowl game...where ever they end up. Hopefully, the Rose Bowl. Anyway, I walk away with my tail between my legs. Thanks for putting up with me.

Hey? All of a sudden, it looks like BG is back in the East race.

Go Falcons!!!! (I'll always bleed brown and orange)

It is funny how everyone thinks OSU can't win bowl games just because they had lost the last two. Nevermind that they destroyed Kansas State, Oklahoma State and Miami and Notre Dame before the two previous title games.

Tek - I'll never deny OSU's ability to win bowl games. The ones you just mentioned get lost in the shuffle. Either way, I hope the Big 10 represents come bowl time. I'm so sick of the SEC "is the greatest conference since sliced bread" crap.
But, for one moment of weakness, can you..can you just muster it up...just wish BG good luck down the stretch? Just askin' :P

GO PHILLIES!

and I'd say that the Big XII is just as good, if not better than the SEC this year. Just hoping we see their champions in Miami come Jan 8th.

Why not? It was in the Fiesta Bowl. That was the same year that Notre Dame got screwed out of a win by the refs against a National title game participating USC.

I hate Notre Dame too and yes they have sucked ever since Quinn left but you can't deny that they were a good team. Bad teams don't hang with USC so close that a referee has to decide the game.

If it ends up being Texas Tech v Alabama then Texas tech will slaughter them. If it ends up being Florida against any Big XII team then look for about 130 points scored, no defense, and maybe 5 OT's. That may be a better game than OSU/Miami in '02.
