I don't have ESPNU and got busy away from the game. Watched some ESPN to see if they ran a score across and they did. Once in at least a half an hour. Yet they updated the NFL game on every first down. Not saying the two are necessarily equal, but I don't think it would have hurt to put the live college game in the bottom line rotation a little more often.
Amazing is the right word that the next two weeks are going to come down to a chance to win a division championship. Here's to 150% on the field the next two games and a chance to go to Detroit!

A friend of mine emailed Greg Christopher about the start time. Not saying that will do anything but maybe, just maybe they will consider moving the start time back an hour or two. The case will be stronger if more people email him. Its [email protected] tell him why the start time should be moved back!!Falcon137 wrote:
Yeah. It's a shame it's at 6 frickin o'clock on a Friday. Whoever thought of this was a true idiot. The Friday is fine the 6 o'clock is not.

I have no idea why the game is at 6, but part of the rationale could be that if it starts much later a lot of students will not attend because it will interfere with bar / drinking time on Friday night. It has to be difficult to arrive at these types of decisions because of how fickle BG's attendance is. No matter what they do the athletic department is bound to inconvenience fans.

It's going to be hard to post this, but the god's honest truth is that the students (as a majority) don't give a crap anymore. Earlier in the year, the football team was the talk of the campus, and people were hyped up. After we lost to Minnesota things were tempered a bit but there was still lots of MAC Championship talk. But after the EMU game, EVERYTHING changed. Talking about the team suddenly became taboo.BourbonFalcon wrote:I have no idea why the game is at 6, but part of the rationale could be that if it starts much later a lot of students will not attend because it will interfere with bar / drinking time on Friday night. Honestly, I would say F the students at this point. We need to move this game back for it to be convenient for our alumni and our fans that don't live in the greater Bowling Green area. Those are the people that will show up. We had no students in the stands for the Kent game, and I doubt that will change next week. The fact is that outside of the most diehard Falcon student faithful, they watched us lose to Minnesota, and Eastern Michigan, possibly Miami, and they've given up on the team for the year. They aren't willing to sit out in the cold on a November Friday night after all the sucky play they've seen at home this year.
The diehards like myself will still show up. And we'd show up at 8am, 12 midnight, whenever the hell. Move the start time to 7:30 or 8, and let's bring our alumni in.

That post was mean-spirited, and garbage. What you wrote, it's fiction. To say that I gave up on the team after the EMU game?? THAT AIN'T TRUE!! If it was true, I never would have gone to the Miami or Kent games. I've been to every home game this season. So get your facts straight. I haven't missed a BG home game in my entire time here, save one in 2005 that occurred during a break. I've screamed my head off for this team more than just about anybody else on this campus the past 4 years.TG1996 wrote:Diehards like yourself who gave up on the team after the loss to EMU? If that means I'm not a diehard Bowling Green fan to you, that's fine. I'll allow you to live in your perfect little fantasy world where 24000+ pack the Doyt every home game and never say anything bad about the team and never question the players or coaches. Just don't bother me anymore with your ridiculous banter.

But I digress.
I'm glad you've supported the Falcons for all four years, screamed your head off and came back after swearing them off for the year, hopefully you can do the same at the MACC in a few weeks.

Unfortunately, I've been prone to saying some really stupid things when I'm pent up and angry. It's a weakness. That time of the day, 4:01pm on Saturday October 18th was not a happy time, and you're right, I let loose with a garbage post. It was downright terrible.TG1996 wrote:So was this one:bgsufalcon24 wrote:That post was mean-spirited, and garbage.

But, I've moved past it. No matter what's happened before, through not just this season, but 4 long years of twists, turns, ups, downs, and craziness, I know that we still have a chance to win the division and get to Detroit. And damnit, I want to see us pull it off. I want to see us make the MACC before I graduate!
GO BG!!

I think if the game was pushed from 6 to 7 the effect would be very minimal on student attendance. I know that I along with at least a dozen of my friends are going to be there no matter what the time. The only students that it would effect would be the girls that take two hours to get ready. Most people don't go out until at least 10 anyway. And as far as giving up on the students goes, I haven't noticed any less talk about the football team even with the losses. The comments aren't necessarily as positive but people aren't going around saying "we suck" and such. The students that plan on going to the game at 6 would still go to the game at 7.

Students won't show up as well because of lower gas prices in the BG area. A lot more kids are going home on the weekends down here because it's cheaper to do so. The hockey attendance has really shown it. I'll be there, as I always have been for my 4 years of being a student, because this is my last home game. Three weeks ago, I would have never imagined that my last home football game would mean as much as it does now. It sort of vindicates the rest of the season. Sort of.
Alls I know is that I'll be out there at 1 tailgating and just enjoying my last time at the Doyt as a student, and hoping that our Falcons can rise up, beat the Bulls and then beat UT and punch a ticket to Ford Field.

I saw one before I graduated, and it wasn't pretty. Big Ben had so much time in the pocket, he could have negotiated his NFL contract back there. I am hoping they make it.bgsufalcon24 wrote:Unfortunately, I've been prone to saying some really stupid things when I'm pent up and angry. It's a weakness.
