We shot 82+% from the foul line and we won a tight game.

We got killed on the boards though 42-29.

I'm impressed with Marschall. When you miss a whole year, it's not that easy to be back in playing shape in the first game. Yet he came out and put up 17 and 9 and was the big force in overtime. That's a credit to his work ethic.

Some will disagree, but I think Marcshall might be our best overall frontliner. We'll see.

Larson played 34 minutes, but had only 4 boards and failed to make one field goal. We have an improving Madlock along with Marcshall. It'll be interesting to see if he'll continue to get minutes.

They wouldn't have won the game if not for Larson. He got the offensive rebound and kicked it out to Jakubowski.

Offensively, Marschall is definitely an all MAC talent. The kid can score in the post, and he can move out and hit the jumper (made a 3 last night, I think). From the sounds of yesterday & what I saw at the exhibition he really looked like he's learned a lot from Orr about rebounding as well. He seems to have really improved that area of his game. I don't know if he'll ever have the quickness to be a good defender in the post, but if he can at least stay out of foul trouble I'll be happy. He brings so much to our offense we cannot afford to have him on the bench with fouls. He is still the only player we have who has shown he can make a move and get his own shot in the post.

Larson did come up huge at the end yesterday, but we need to get more out of him and Polk. OP again with the offensive fouls (and tons of turnovers yesterday). Larson works his butt off, and is a solid defensive presence, but he just doesn't have the hands to be a good rebounder or offensive threat. OP has some natural talent, but he's a junior so we really need to start seeing some of that development.

If those guys don't start producing we've got too much talent at the forward spot to keep throwing them out there just because they're true centers. If they don't play better I can definitely see us playing a lot of minutes with a front line of Miller-Knight-Marschall.

Wish I could watch tonight's game to see how we stack up against a Big 10 team. Hopefully we'll play well and pull out another one!

hammb,

The game is on the Big Ten Network and someone posted the link to watch online in the other thread. See if it works!

I heard from a friend of mine who has DirecTV that they won't be showing Big Ten basketball on BTN for a few weeks yet, but I guess we'll see. At my buddy's place now and his directv guide shows several BTN channels as TBA.

first, I watched a basketball game on BTN last night.

Second, the game is being streamed online, not on the TV.

The first game of the night ended in the last 10 minutes. BG is not scheduled to start for another 25 minutes or so. I assume that it will be available online close to tip.

That's what I'm hoping too.
