PJ and Steve were both inactive and on the sidelines in street cloths. I had the binoculars on them and Kory as they all met at mid-field immediately after the game. Good to see old teamates getting together. It's still amazing to think of the talent on some of those BG teams.

Pope v. Cards?

Post by cph2133 »

according to yahoo sports "Devastating injuries to Mike Shanahan's stable of running backs has three unknowns – Hillis, P.J. Pope and Alex Haynes – vying for playing time."

they predict Hillis to get most of the carries, but who knows with Shan

I saw they resigned Tatum Bell. PJ should check to see if he is missing any personal items.

Looks like PJ is active this week. And Young is not. So its the FB Hillis, Pope, and the just signed Bell at RB this week for the Broncos. Hopefully, PJ will make the most of any opportunity he gets today.

Hillis, Bell and Eddie Royal all have carries thus far. Since it's the Broncos, I have no trouble pulling for more injuries in that backfield, if it gives PJ a shot.

PJ with a 15 yard run down to the 4. The picked up two more on second down to get it to the two before they brought Hills back in for the two yard TD run. But PJ got some carries, so that is good.

Not many RB's average 8.5 ypc for their career. :-D

35 yards on 4 carries now. He's upped that 8.5 yards per carry.

Just watched the game on tape. PJ had some nice runs. Trouble is that Selvin Young will be coming back soon. With Peyton Hillis and Tatum Bell in front of him, that likely mens inactive for PJ next week...unless the hamstring on Young isn't healed.

At least PJ got a chance to showcase his talents. One of these times, some team is going to give him a real shot.

Glad to see that PJ performed well in his first duty yesterday. It's always going to be an uphill battle for him because he doesn't have any one overwhelming skill that teams could use as his specialty. He's a darn good all around running back. He would make for a good backup to any team, IMO.

The problem is that teams don't carry a true backup RB anymore. Most teams use multiple RBs throughout the game and they aren't looking for a guy to have the same skills as their starter. They want a shifty/fast guy with big play potential, or they want a big bruiser who can pound it from in close. PJ can do either, but neither of them well enough to be a specialist in today's NFL.

I think he's a guy that would have been given a much better shot to stick someplace 10-20 years ago than what he's given now, just because he doesn't have that one overwhelming skill jump out at a coach. Hopefully somebody will see the success he had today and give him a prolonged shot.

I watched the couple drive he got in. Kevin Harlan gave BG a shout out. PJ looked good and ran hard.
