I'm hoping I can make it...it's getting to be that time of year where every student has 800 papers due in a one week period and it's no different for me this year. If not best of luck to the girls! I know they'll make it 5 straight tonight.

Yeah no kidding. I've got a mean spanish essay that might keep me away tonight, I hope not though.

The ladies deserve a huge crowd tonight but probably won't get much more than 1300. We'll probably get better attendance as the season wears on but honestly there isn't a big name at home to draw the casual fan out like there have been in the past. The die-hard townies are there but the overall student support is abysmal IMO. I don't what it would take to get the same students that show up for the men to start showing for a women's team that has been only kicking the butt crap out of the Mac for 4 years now.

What men's game are you talking about that the student attendance is good? In my few years here I have always been extremely disappointed with the student attendance in both men's and women's basketball. We don't even have an established student section for God's sake. It's ridiculous.

On the contrary, it's established. It's just that few students come to the game so the student section fills with anyone that wants to sit in it.

I stand corrected, but I have been asked to sit down when I've tried to stand in that area, and when it's a family with small children I feel obligated to do so. I'm obviously not going to tell them off. I'm not sure exactly what, but something should be done so we can have more of a home-court advantage I think. It would make the games more fun for everybody.

For women's basketball, we have by FAR the biggest home court advantage in the MAC. Countless opposing players and coaches have said so in post-game conferences after getting whooped on at AA.

The ladies are used to playing in front of 500ish people. When they see 1500 people right on the court with how loud AA can get, it can be very tough for them to deal with. I know our players get a lot of energy from the crowd and appreciate the support.

The Men used to be that way, too. If they start winning, it'll be that way again, at least until the convo center happens.

Anyway, Detroit is struggling this year, but upset Georgia at home. I think we roll but it's not a guarantee.

Not a bad game. Seemed pretty solid. Some poor passes and some broken plays on offense but overall a good performance. Tons of steals!

Detriot came out fired up at the start of the 2nd but kind of faded. Fast.

Loved watching the Detroit coach tho. Surprised she didn't jump out of her high-heels :) I thought the ref was going to T her up at one point.

Its nice to hear the band again......buuuuuuttttt, there were somethings I thought were a little rude. First, targeting the one Detriot player all game. I dont know the back story on it but seemed like they were insulting her based on her looks. Ok look its fine to scream AIRBALL everytime that player touches the ball but dont insult them, cmon thats not what BG is about. We are trying to attract big time programs. You think they want to come here when they see the way we treat lowly Detroit?? I could almost understand if it was a game of importance, but we were blowing this team out. Gimme a break. Those Detroit girls, although they got a little chippy, were fighting hard and they deserve some respect. If that was not the case, then disregard.

Second, was jingling the keys. We all knew it was over well in advance. I have no problem with it but not from the band, a university sponsored group. Let the student section do that, and during a game that MATTERS.

Let me be clear im not trying to bash the band. I love the band. They make it a great atmosphere. But lets just keep it a sportsmanlike atmosphere. I would hate to see anything get out of hand. Love the cheering and enthusiasm though, keep it up!!

By the time Tracy Pontius gets to be a senior we will forget about what's her name.

It was nice to see everybody get into the game and play fairly well. I just wish Victoria would be more aggressive and put up that sweet shot I've seen her take. It's about a 12-16 footer.

Funny- I went up to the Band after the game and thanked them for being in the game. They were a HUGE factor tonight and sounded great.

Were you EVER in AA when "Angie" Hipster played? He couldn't even breathe without the entire place erupting. And the band used to have a guy with eye charts for the refs.

There have been years that the band has sounded great but have not been in the game. I loved that they played the Alma Mater with the team after and the tubas were dancing later on.

They weren't picking on #3 for her looks. It was because of her play. And they were just being noisy. I sit near them.

I give the band a pass. IF the CHEERLEADERS started things THAT would be bad. Pep Bands are usually up to something.....just watch on TV.

Detroit had a total of 5 fans I think. We need more students- sure- but they will come.. they will come.

EDIT- This "poor" Detroit team beat GEORGIA for heavens's sake. They beat Colgate. We are just better. Have you watched our women over the past 5 years or so? Because we have beaten the heck out of a lot of people.
