I'm shocked by this....I really thought they were going with Eberflus. UT got an excellent coach

Congrats, Tim. We all know it's every Ohio boy's dream to coach at the University of Toledo.

Wow, I hate all of you for making him such an obvious candidate to me. Is UT considered a better job than BG right now? Bigger city, Growing school....are we the detroit of the MAC?

Man, the reason you are such a raging Obamunist is becoming crystal clear.

Congrats to Tim on landing the gig, Lord knows he has earned it. I wish he could have come back to Bowling Green, but I'm happy that he has gotten the opportunity. Now I only wish him one loss per season outright, and others if it benefits the Burnt Orange and Seal Brown.

I think our AD has earned just a little bit of trust based upon his past hiring decisions, and his recent decisiveness. But, I guess I'm forgetting that one bad game by the men's hoops team means that Lou Orr and Greg Christopher are losers. I guess I should always bear that in mind around here...

I hate to say it, but this place has become a bit (to quote 7 Mary 3) cumbersome lately.

I disagree. Your absence has been refreshing.

Nice.

And I'll see BO's "one loss a year" and raise him 11 losses a year. (Unless they benefit the Burnt Orange and Seal Brown.)

Mark Stoops is number one on my short list. I think with how many offensive powers there are in the MAC it may be time to focus on defense. Stoops has the name power for recruits and is on the rise.

So, I wont lie...this whole Beckman thing sucks. And mainly just for the following:

-I go 900+ miles away,
-enjoy my first season at a Big XII school with a defense that has its crap in order,
-my team goes 9-3...and despite the BG win last week...

Tol*do still manages to piss me off at the end of the season. Go fig.

The forums at OrangePower.com are starting to catch wind of this, but after the first page of posts...as with any good forum...the main topic is gone. lol

As a former Falcon I figure it couldn’t hurt to put my cents in.

A was a Falcon during both of Urban’s years as well as GB’s first two seasons.

First off… I feel it is a very good thing that Beckman was hired at Toledo. I would have been disappointed if he was named BG”s head coach. I was recruited by Beckman, and he is a good guy, but at Bowling Green he wasn’t the most respected coach. His motivational techniques and some of how he handles players was not what you want from a head coach. Or even a DC. I feel relieved he wasn’t brought in as BG’s coach.

Azzanni and Durkin are too young. Durkin has a great intensity and pride in BG, he is still a very young coach and a few more years experience would be a really good thing for him.
While McCall had a lot of respect from players, I don’t see him as the head coach quite yet. He works with players really well and has a nice way of motivating players but I am not sure he is ready for the job.

Maybe Stud would be a good fit, but what is obvious is not always the right way to go. I am not sure if he wants to be a head coach at this point, but its hard to find a flaw for him with the position, from being and OC he knows how defense is/should be played and he is one hell of a recruiter. I am not saying he is or should be the guy, just see many positives to him and what he would bring.

Word has come around that Vince Palko is campaigning for his old Coach Ferraro (Def. Coordinator in the '90's pre-Beckman and current Minnesota Vikings coach) to be the next head coach at BGSU. I don’t know much about him, but if he has Palko’s stamp that means a lot.

Urban was a fantastic coach and motivator and changed the program for the better, if BG looks for another Urban the best case sinerio is that BG will see a few years of success and then will need to find a replacement for that coach when he moves on.. Worst case the coach isn’t what was anticipated and BG sees a few years of bad seasons and then we look for a replacement when that coach gets canned.

I feel that in order to rebuild and maintain the BG tradition and to have continued success without fear of the coach leaving, a candidate like Stud or Ferraro that has strong ties to either the university or to the area.

Just some opinions.
