I on the other hand was not going to attend another football game with Brandon as the coach, so I guess all things even out in the end ;)

Was that from Brandon's parents?

They were as good at blaming everyone else as the former coach himself.

Oh well, I guess I need to donate 10% more this year. What is 10% more than 0 anyways?

Yet another argument that essentially stems to Gregg Brandon is a nice guy and should still be here. Everything is somebody else's fault, and look at that overall record!

The record the last 4 years is mediocre. The off the field & academic issues are awful. You may want to shrug all those responsibilities off on others, but the reality is that in college football it is the Head Coach who takes the fall for that stuff.

He almost sounds as though he likes Gregg Brandon the person, and dislikes Greg Christopher the person. So has chosen sides based on no other logical thought. I'm sorry to lose your support both in dollars and enthusiasm Mr. & Mrs. Brecklen, but this was the right move for the program.

As a major contributor to Falcon football since coach Urban Meyer, my wife and I have been very involved in the daily progress and setbacks this program has gone through and the progressions have outnumbered the setbacks.
The timetable of this validation statement struck me as odd.

You can't fire a guy who went 31-17 in the MAC and expect everything to be peachy. Some people are going be pissed. It's just the way it is.

Mr. and Mrs. Brecklin are big supporters of the football program. They are at nearly every practice and Mr. Brecklin was the one responsible for making the sledge hammer that the team carried on the field last year as well as a few other symbolic items. He gave many pep talks to the team and Mrs. Brecklin would bake cookies for the team all the time. The team appreciated their support. Many people are going to be mad about the firing of Coach Brandon and its understandable why the Brecklins are so angry right now. They had built a pretty good relationship with Coach Brandon and the team.

With that said, as much as Mr. Brecklin respected Coach Brandon as a coach, I am not sure the team still shared that same respect. This was indeed the right move, and I hope that the Brecklins will continue to support the football team just like they had in the past. If you dont want to support GC, then atleast do it for the student athletes that need your support.

Absolutely. Even those of us that just loathed the way Brandon ran the program still supported that program with everything they could. Packing up your toys and going home when somebody makes a decision that upsets you is incredibly immature.

Personally, I value opinion of this article and the support they show for the program. I would do the same for a friend.

But there needed to be a change at BGSU and that change was not at the A.D. level. Christopher has a great deal of tangible upside and to terminate that would be foolish. Are there issues that stem beyond the football coach? Certainly, but there is one constant with the issues with the football program: Gregg Brandon.

I wish Mr. Brandon well and truly hopes he lands on his feet; however, BGSU has better potential with someone else at the helm of the program.

And those people are like Stewart Mandel and don't really have any idea what is going on with the program.

I don't think the couple who wrote that editorial are anything like Stewart Mandel.

No these folks know alot about this team and the program. I would say probably more than you. They take a extraordinary amount of time to get to know the kids on the team AND spend a lot of dollars (in contributions) for the team. I respect his opinion on both the firing of GB and their view on Mr Christopher.

Change is hard to handle sometimes. I only hope they keep supporting the team in the way they have in the past. I can (and will tell them in person) what great influence and respect they have with the players on this current team and the ones on past teams.

I only hope the new coach can smooth things out with them in the future. They are a huge asset to Bowling Green Football and to the players
