BSU turns down Boise!

I had not seen this until this evening. If it has been mentioned on here, I apologize. If not, I would be interested to hear everyone's thoughts. In a nutshell, Ball State was invited to play in the Humanitarian Bowl in Boise against Boise State. Ball State declined. The article says they will likely face NC State or Notre Dame in the Motor City Bowl instead. Personally I wish Ball State would have taken this invitation and I think it looks bad to turn it down.

I always considered bowl games to be played on a somewhat "neutral" setting. I don't think there is anything wrong with that decision. Of course Boise would fill the stadium. Ball State wouldn't travel well there. I don't think Ball State has to prove anything to anyone. They went 12-0 in their schedule. I don't care how their schedule looked. That's impressive. They lost a player that they formed an offense around, and still went undefeated. That's impressive. That writers a clown.

i think they made the right choice as well. if boise would have agreed to play in like the music city bowl or hawaii bowl then it would have been one thing. but they always want people to play them on that damn blue turf so you cant see them. it's really hard to watch their games because their jerseys blend so much with the field, its a total unfair advantage.

Jason King is a d bag. Why should Ball State travel to Boise? I agree with the other posts. King has no clue about the MAC. If it is so important, the game should be played at a neutral site.

Playing Boise State at Boise State and losing will mean more to Ball State then playing NC State in Detroit

I respect their decision. If their was a bowl game in Muncie, Ind do you think Boise would come there?

I wish they would go out there and play them though. Probably make for another great bowl game.

I think people are treating Boise like they are the mighty football Gods. Playing at Boise and losing will mean more than playing NC State in Detroit? Come on. Boise is by no means "untouchable." Sure, they've had some great sucess recently. They had a great season this season just like BSU. NC State is not the step-child of DI football. NC State still is a good program. The more I think about BSU choosing the MCB, the more I agree with them. They have to do what's best for the team and fans. Bowls are a business, and bowls are meant to be a fun time for the players and fans. Detroit is a 3 hour drive from Muncie. An easy trip for most fans.

I think the battle of two undefeateds would be one of the most watched games of the bowl schedule. It would have been the only battle of two undefeated teams.

I agree with that, it would be a good game. Seeing the two undeated teams go at it. I know I'd watch it. But do it on a neutral field. But that writer basically calling them cowards for not wanting to play them is ridiculous. Done right, I could see more people watching that game than the BCS championship.

Ball State shouldn't have to travel to Boise to play Boise State during the postseason. If it was a regular season contract, fine, but the whole point of bowls is to get good teams to play each other on neutral fields, not to mention make a lot of cash off the games.

It would be similar to when Louisville and Boise played 3 or 4 years ago. Boise was undefeated and UofL had one loss. A great game as both were from non BCS conferences at the time. I would love to see Ball St. go out there and play them but I understand why they will not.

I agree with the notion that Ball State could shut up a lot of doubters (myself included, really) by going out to Boise and beating them on their home field. But they shouldn't have to.

Since it appears likely that the MCB will be inviting an at-large team (NC St. or ND, if what this hack says is true), why not invite Boise State? Turn the tables on them and see if they'd be willing to travel for a non-BCS bowl game. And it's not even to the opponent's home stadium. And if Boise State can't go because they're tied into the Humanitarian Bowl, then why not write something about that... one of the premier non-BCS teams of this decade is tied to playing a home game during bowl season unless it benefits their image to go elsewhere.

notre dame isnt even bowl eligible are they? i thought they only had 4 wins or something like that. anyways, nc state isnt that bad of a team. they are very young and were very up and down this year like young teams are. they do have one of the next exciting qauterbacks in russell wilson though, that kid is gonna be a player as he improved of the course of the year. also nc state is on a high right now after beating a very good unc team last week.
