The person I spoke with believed that he would be transferring.
Once again, we see stupid, self-destructive behavior in a young man and ask "WTF"?

Well, all I can offer is this: the prefrontal cortex is not fully developed until a person is in their mid 20's. The prefrontal cortex is the part of the brain responsible for judgment, planning, and self-moderation. From Wikipedia:

"This brain region has been implicated in planning complex cognitive behaviors, personality expression, decision making and moderating correct social behavior. The basic activity of this brain region is considered to be orchestration of thoughts and actions in accordance with internal goals."

This is the only way that I reconcile the incredibly stupid s**t that we see out of some of these kids. It's comforting to visualize Cameron at age 25 asking himself "my God, what was I thinking???"

The kid is 6-8 and just an incredible athlete. The odds are he has never had to be responsible for anything in his life. Basketball coaches probably bowed at his feet and then he got here and he was just another basket ball player and Coach Orr asked him to work hard. Where height and athleticism has gotten him by the rest of his life now he needs to build a work ethic to go with it, something that he may not have been exposed to often in the past. I have always had the feeling that he was an afterthought to Orr's first recruiting class. Orr got started late but was able to get him and Jakubowski from what I can remember. Jaku was a find but Madlock was a raw athlete, a boom or bust type but with a high floor. If he got he developed he would be a great player, if not he is atleast an athlete we can put on the floor with some height. Best case scenario things work out and he stays here because we have already invested two years in him and he in us. Worst case is he leaves and we are able to recruit another big. At this point it would be a wash in talent because he is so raw. It may end up being better for him because he could go to a Juco where he wouldnt have to work as hard.

Globe question about a name you threw around here last year. Any update on Connor Tillow (St. Edwards), i believe he was a junior last year with Roe and Prichard. I saw him play, liked his game. Nothing too flashy, but solid inside player. Any update?

Now, the program has basically 2 years invested. This year might be a wasted year both him and the program. Even if he does get his act together, will it be in time for him to grow as a player and help the program?

My impression from the article is that Madlock needs to focus on academics. Very hopefully, that's all there is to this situation. Of all the problems that a kid could have, this is probably the best one to have. Hopefully, he's studying his tail off, will rock his finals, and will be ready to take over the MAC in a few weeks. If not, maybe he'll get an academic redshirt.

Connor Tillow should be a senior this year but I have a hard time believing that he would be a suitable replacement for Madlock. While Tillow is a very nice player he is a solid MAC level 3 unless he has grown 3-4 inches and put on 30-40 pounds. The player I saw twice last year was a dead eye shooter with solid handles but was 6-6 with a frame that looked like Ron Lewis. I think we have that player with a better frame and its Scott Thomas.

Agreed, i wasn't implying a replacement for Madlock, not the same type of player, just a player with what i think is a good upside and was wondering about his progress.

I hate to say it, but as I don't think we see Madlock suit up again. The indications I was given on his problems had nothing to do with academics, but my sources suggested that he was probably leaving the university sooner or later.
Finally a senior!
