EMU coach suspended for post-game ‘altercation’
YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP)—Eastern Michigan men’s basketball coach Charles Ramsey was suspended for three days for what the school called a “post-game altercation” with a fan last month.
Associate head coach Derrick McDowell led the Eagles (2-6) in Monday night’s 67-47 home victory over Wayne State.
A statement from Eastern Michigan athletic director Derrick Gragg said the incident happened Nov. 22, after the Eagles’ 62-47 loss at the University of Detroit.
School spokesman Jim Streeter said the dispute involved Ramsey and a fan but declined to say if physical contact was involved and didn’t give further details.
The Eagles play Saturday at Michigan.

Ouch. You could maybe possibly see this happening with a player and a fan, but a COACH and a fan? Thats even more so ridiculous. Youre getting paid to be a professional, act like one.

Can't say I blame him. Some of those "fans" up there in Ypsi are whacked-out. I remember last year's BG-EMU game, and we got hit with some stuff like "Go back to Toledo", and "how bout them Cavs". I responded with F Toledo and defending Eastern Conference champs.Falcon137 wrote:Both of those fans in Yipsilanti really got under his skin
In the football game, some drunks came by thumping their chest about EMU football because they were winning at halftime. I asked them what their record was and they couldn't tell me. We won 38-30.
Idiots. No wonder I was so infuriated on October 4th.

Must have REALLY gotten under his skin, since the game was in Detroit.Falcon137 wrote:Both of those fans in Yipsilanti really got under his skin
(But I understand, and appreciate, where you were going with the "both" reference.

Glad this guy isn't a hockey coach, he'd have climbed the glass his first week.
