Thats the first thing I thought of too. He does have MAC ties though, he was an assistant at Buffalo.

But as I read more, I'm liking the idea more and more

"Clawson describes his coaching style as one that utilizes the available talent to maximize success. His philosophy focuses on getting individual playmakers more touches rather than sticking to a rigidly-defined system. His offenses have displayed components of the Pro-Style, Spread and Power Running attacks. His influences included Hank Small whom he coached under at Lehigh University and numerous NFL teams including the New York Jets, New York Giants and others."

Anyone else think this sounds exciting?
Does this mean that our QB might be under center for at least 2 plays a game?

If so, we might need a new QB! I'll be intrigued to see how he handles Sheehan/Beam. Maybe Andrew can win him over.

He was twice the I-AA coach of the year. He is young, but a proven winning head coach. And he did that winning at schools where you have to overachieve, just as he will at BG. I think its a very good pick. I think his head coaching background is more important than one year at Tenn.

He almost has Mitt Romney hair, too. I don't think we could have made a better decision. :-D

i love that he took teams with poor records and turned them into serious contenders. and if his power back philosophy holds true it could mean bullock will be happy next year

if people are sad because he doesn't have ohio/midwest ties, boo freaking hoo, cry me a river. if christopher thinks this is the best guy for the job it shouldnt matter where he's from, and being from virginia that could turn into a pipeline state kinda how meyer turned georgia into a pipeline state. virginia has some darn good hs football but i know to most of you, you dont think good football is played anywhere besides ohio's podunk towns in the middle of nowhere.

Welcome coach! On that note...

...I'm not gonna be doing any cartwheels, round-offs, or somersaults until we can "at least" get back to a MAC championship game.

Seems like a good hire. But, I don't know s**t, and I admit it.

Im not going to hold Tennessee against him, they seem to have a new O coordinator every year. I like his history at 1AA, there is another coach in the state of Ohio that made his start at that level. Second Ohio ties are overrated. He might be able to raid someone staff of a recruiting coordinator and we will be ok. Maybe just maybe he can get Ward to come back.
