Yesterday's banquet....

Post by Falconfreak90 »

Jake and I were at the event. I think all the coaches were there except GB, Ward and Campbell. Usually the banquet goes about 3 1/2 to 4 hours but yesterday's was over in about 2 1/2. Obviously, there was a feeling of disappointment and frustration of the season but all carried themselves very well.

One thing that I won't soon forget...John Haneline talked about leaving with no regrets...leaving everything on the field. He said his only regret was leaving BG without a title ring. He chose BG to win a title and not getting the job done is something he'll never be able to forget. I felt badly for this group of seniors....they are a special class. I talked to as many as I could but the place emptied out pretty quickly. :(

Jake and I hit the Doyt on the way out of town. We walked thru the place and sat in our seats for a few minutes. I hate leaving BG after the season has ended. It was a solemn way to remember what could have been in 2008...

On the bright side, we have a new leader in place so let's get ready to rock and roll.

GOOD LUCK SENIORS AND THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING TO BE FALCONS!!!!

Mike,
Who got the individual awards? Since most of the "non-departed" coaches WERE there, was there any indication as to which one(s) might stay under Clawson? [I'm guessing little, if anything, was said about that].

Den,

The individual awards should be posted on the official site any minute. The only coach I got a chance to talk to was Coach Rothenbuhler. Nothing was said about any coaches staying...I wasn't expecting anything.

Cal Bowers was a great host, btw. It was still a good time...just very low key.
