THIS was an impressive win. St Bonnie came in at 6-1 and is a very solid team.

I can agree with that. In response to hockeysue, that comment was directed at you or your age group, I was mainly talking about the elderly folks(75years+) who I know aren't the type to get rowdy and what is a non issue. I KNOW you and your comrades are loud and its sad the students today can't seem to get into the games the way this team is playing and for how good our program has been for 5 years now. Most of the noise generated in AA is either the sideline people or the middle aged hardcore types that have been here for years. The only thing I can think of is that maybe its just the fact that our students aren't excited about the opponent we're playing. It should be our goal every year to bring in the best non-conference opponents we can into AA and eventually the Stroh. A big name team helps too, its sad but the truth. The Niz wrote:BGFalconfromCincy wrote:Until Curt Miller stops talking about how the crowd is great during every home postgame news conference I will say nothing bad about the crowd. If the head coach thinks the crowd was great then the crowd was great.

Didn't see it mentioned anywhere yet, if it has, sorry for the double post. Prochaska has now been MAC player of the week twice in the last three weeks.

After four years here, I can say that the biggest driver of attendance we have in BG is the opponent we're playing against. Just look at the evidence. vs Minnesota in football, vs Michigan in hockey, vs Notre Dame in women's basketball. Those games have been some of the craziest and best crowds we've had here in recent memory. I agree completely that we need to work to bring good opponents into Bowling Green, because like it or not, the masses are not going to see football play Eastern Michigan, or see men's basketball play Wayne State.Falconboy wrote:I can agree with that. 24, do you mean good opponents, or big name teams? The Bonnies and Hartford are good opponents, just not big names. The teams you mentioned are bigger schools. Bonaventure and Hartford have big wins this year against ranked teams, and our win yesterday was a very good win that will get us ready to run through the conference. I agree that bigger schools with name recognition will get bigger crowds, but to the educated fans, they know what a good team is that is coming into play the Falcons. Not disagreeing with you, just trying to clarify your point. Congratulations to the Falcons, and keep it rolling.

I tend to disagree. Sustained success brings in the crowds. During hockey's heyday in the not too distant past it really didn't matter who they were playing, the place was packed because the team had been successful for over a decade. The attendance at women's bball has been steadily increasing due to their continued success, but it's still women's basketball. (I'm not saying they don't deserve the support of a packed house because they've earned it. I'm just being a realist.) Had men's basketball been just as successful over that same period the place would be packed. MAC teams are in a catch 22. They can't keep great coaches long enough to create that sustained success, thus the roller coaster rides from mediocrity to greatness back to mediocrity.bgsufalcon24 wrote:After four years here, I can say that the biggest driver of attendance we have in BG is the opponent we're playing against.
