Okay, I have 2 gripes with 88.1 Radio WBGU.
I am listening to the game online via the web feed but it is still the same if I was listening to it back in BG.
First Gripe, they have had two commericals saying, 'HI, this is so and so and your listening to WBGU 88.1 FM' I am sure you all have heard these commericals. The thing I have a problem with is that it said, 'HI, THIS IS BOWLING GREEN FALCONS FOOTBALL COACH, GREGG BRANDON'. Ok, is it that hard to remove that from your commerical list.
Secondly, one of the announcer's has said 5 times, Curt Martin needs to be happy about his team's play. Wait, make that 6 times now. As soon as he says the other announcer doesn't correct him but just does clearly say Coach Miller. You think he would get the hint.
COME ON, If you don't even know the name of our coach you should not be doing live broadcasting. And you think the producer back at the studio would realize what commercials he is going to play
2 GRIPES about 88.1 FM
The producer has no idea what commercials or teasers are going to play. The producer selects ":10 FCC" or ":15 second BGRSO." The computer then pulls a random clip based on how many times and what was played last and puts it out on the radio. But, whoever is in charge of that these days should have pulled all the clips with Brandon in them.
Getting the coach's name wrong? Inexcusable.
Please remember that these are college students who do this on a voluntary basis and receive no academic credits or pay for their work. I challenge anyone who thinks they can be a radio personality to just try it once and not suck.
I did it at least a dozen times and still suck.

I agree with everything that has been said. I think the one guy was doing his first-ever broadcast. I did some radio work back in my undergraduate days, and I will agree that it is much harder than it looks. It is very difficult to avoid sucking in your first broadcasts (or, in my case, in your first YEAR). Should he have gotten Curt's last name right? Yes. But, I'm sure he was scared beyond belief, and Im also sure he will get better with more experience. As student stations go, I have to believe that BG has one of the best in the country.
