That's awesome. I'm actually from Cincinnati so I'll def. have to make it to a game sometime when I'm home. The Cyclones won the Kelly Cup last year, which is the Stanley Cup of the ECHL.falcons86 wrote:Mike Nesdill was put on waivers by the Victoria Salmon Kings and was picked up by the Cincinnati Cyclones. Gee Mike, you're almost home!!!

According to hockeydb.com, Mike Nesdill is no longer on the Cincy Cyclones active roster and is playing for the Mississippi Sea Wolves in the ECHL, http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdis ... ?pid=69817
I was just looking on USCHO and found Brian Bales' name on the list of top NCAA scorers. He's playing for Alaska-Anchorage in the WCHA and has 12 points in 12 games http://www.uscho.com/stats/ . For whatever reason it didn't work out for him here but he's def. not doing bad for himself up in Alaska.
This will probably stir things up. The Eastern Professional Hockey League is a new league in the metro New York area with four teams. They are a class "A" league (one step below the ECHL, three down from the NHL).
Look who is currently the number one goalie in the league (as of 11/25, anyway):

Brett Pilkington now a Condor
"BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors, official ECHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks, have acquired C Brett Pilkington from the Trenton Devils in exchange for future considerations. They have also signed rookie F Nick Pernula. The announcements were made by Head Coach Marty Raymond.
Pilkington, 24, is in his third professional campaign and has eight points (1g-7a) in 14 games between Elmira and Trenton this season. The Calgary native had 8g-36a-44pts in 61 ECHL games last season, primarily with the Elmira Jackals. He added one assist in two American Hockey League games as well. Pilkington recorded 29 goals and 73 points during his rookie season, spent in the United Hockey League. He had 90 points (28g-62a) in 131 games at Bowling Green State University from 2002-06.
....What Marty Raymond is saying:
"We felt we needed to add some skill up front," said Raymond. "These two guys are talented players and will certainly help us out. Pilkington especially can step in and be a first line guy."

Jordan Sigalet
Jordan is trying out for the Vienna Capitals. Has a contract to mid-January which could be extended to the end of the season if he impresses.
The global 'economic turndown' has caused financial problems for the Russian league where he was playing. He (and many other "imported" players were all asked to take substantial pay cuts, and Jordan came to the conclusion that it wasn't worth his while to stay there.rood wrote:Vienna, Austria? That sounds better than the Russian backwater he was with. Anybody know what happened there, anyway?
