I think GB was a pretty good OC in his time here. One factor to consider in evaluating the overall performance of the offense over the years is the degree to which defenses are becoming familiar with the spread. Back in 2001, there weren't nearly as many teams running it as there are now. Ergo ipso facto, it has become more difficut to move the ball running the soread.

It has become more difficult to run the spread the way GB has been trying to run it the past several years. Everyone else has gotten wise to GB's scheme's that he had decided to not change. Spread offenses still doing damage are those of Boise St., Texas Tech, Utah and the like.Flipper wrote:I think GB was a pretty good OC in his time here. I don't think we moved it too bad. 29 points a game and 44 touchdowns in 12 games with Barnes and Geter out a lot of those games.

And here's another story related to Brandon being the OC at Virginia, but it also happens to mention that Hofher is a candidate for the head job at Towson.

Towson? I guess he'll be dealing with fewer scholarships anyway!Warthog wrote:And here's another story related to Brandon being the OC at Virginia, but it also happens to mention that Hofher is a candidate for the head job at Towson.

I think you've finally come up with an appropriate name for the clusterf**k our offense became in the last couple of years of the Brandon era, Flip!Flipper wrote:I think GB was a pretty good OC in his time here. Meyer said he has already begun to look for Mullen's replacement. He said he will consider both in-house candidates and coaches outside the program.
''There's a lot of headway going on, but there's no timetable,'' Meyer said. ``I'm going to take my time. I don't do that very well fast, so I'm going to take my time and make sure I get the best out there.''
Meyer's short list could include Gregg Brandon, who was his offensive coordinator at Bowling Green. Brandon was recently fired as Bowling Green's head coach.
''The next coordinator is probably going to be someone I know,'' Meyer said. ``When I hire a coach, I'm not interested in a guy that's going to sit there and nod his head yes. I want a guy that has input. So, more I'm looking for great chemistry and a great recruiter and someone who represents this university well.''
