you are right. that was actually the first thing I noticed. they played the power play completely different. I would have a hard time thinking that the coaching would make such a change - especially because that is the first time it's changed all season. the other thing is on Saturday night, we didn't play nearly as much "dump-and-chase" hockey. in a lot of ways we looked like a completely different teamFreddie wrote:Did anyhbody else notice how mush different the power play l;ooked last night? We actually has a forward camped in front of the crease. Was this at the coaches direction, or just the players doing what they know is right?
it could be Paluch knew something was coming. for the first time since I've been here, he stood with the players and actually "sang" the Alma Mater. and as Rightupinthere said, he's still coach. maybe we'll hear something after Christmas, maybe not

It could be that he has been warned that there are expectations for the second half the year. In any case, something seems from what folks are saying, to have kicked him in the butt. Sadly, if this is the case, that it takes such a kick in the behind to get him moving isn't a positive thing.

I don't think anything was different. Clarkson didn't defend as aggressively as the other teams we've played. They just kinda collapsed on themselves. It's easy to look good when the other team doesn't really defend you. The few times they did start to get aggressive, we coughed up the puck and it went the other way.Freddie wrote:Did anyhbody else notice how mush different the power play l;ooked last night? I noticed Pooch singing too after the game. Kind of impressed, never seen any basketball or football player or coach sing the alma mater. I wish they knew the words it would make the whole thing that much coller especially after a big game. just my two centsmusicman2343 wrote:you are right. that was actually the first thing I noticed. they played the power play completely different. Song after the game.
They should be singing Ay-Ziggy-Zoomba after a win, much more up tempo and in your face. I remember in the 2001 CCHA playoffs when we started against Miami at Goggin. Since spring break was starting on Saturday of that week, Miami petitioned the CCHA, and got the OK, to move the games to Thursday, Friday, Saturday thinking they would at least get a good student crowd for the first game on Thursday and they did. However, BG beat them on Thursday and then sent them Miami home for the season on Friday with a win in OT. When I walked by the BG locker room the door opened and you could hear the players singing Ay-Ziggy-Zoomba at the top of their lungs. It was great and the Miami fans noticed and sunk their heads a little lower. That was the last season we went to the Joe.
Please sing Ay-Ziggy-Zoomba after all home wins!!!!

And I think the teams are required to listen to the alma mater after each game. The locker room version of AZZ is also a "fast forward" version of what you sing at the games.Rightupinthere wrote:Traditionally saved for the locker rooms regardless of sport.bgpuckster wrote: Please sing Ay-Ziggy-Zoomba after all home wins!!!!

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Re: Song after the game.
yeah, Urban Meyer started that tradition with his team after home wins, then GC started expanding it to all sports to honor the school after he left. usually when we're (the band) is there, we'll play the fight song, ay-zig, alma mater, then beer barrel.Falcon Fanatic wrote:And I think the teams are required to listen to the alma mater after each game. it's good to know that the players sing it in the locker rooms as another celebration

You are flat out incorrect on when this tradition started, but don't let my experience contradict you.musicman2343 wrote:yeah, Urban Meyer started that tradition with his team after home wins, then GC started expanding it to all sports to honor the school after he left. usually when we're (the band) is there, we'll play the fight song, ay-zig, alma mater, then beer barrel.Falcon Fanatic wrote:And I think the teams are required to listen to the alma mater after each game. well, so I was wrong. just repeating what i read on a different section of the forum. but you didn't have to be bitterly sarcastic. you could have just said when it started and pointed out my incorrect statement.
