Our lineup was not submitted at the appropriate time and we were assessed an administrative technical foul.

THAT IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE! BUSH LEAGUE! I'm beginning to have serious concerns about Coach Orr.

How does Nate Miller only play 21 minutes and Knight plays 20 minutes. We have Miller who is a preseason 1st team All MAC player and Knight coming off of freshman player of the year last year and they continue to only play half of the game. Miller had 7 shot attempts and Knight had 6??? Those guys need only to come out of the game if they are in foul trouble. They need to be playing at least 33-35 minutes per game.

I would be inclined to agree with you if they were playing as well as they did last year, but the games I've watched neither has been a consistent threat anywhere. I would still like to see them play more minutes, though, I agree. The depth is nice, but I do think we need to try to play our better players more minutes.

So far the biggest problem with this team, IMO, is lack of offensive talent/direction. They work their tails off on defense, and its allowing them to have leads in the first half of games that they probably shouldn't have. Unfortunately, as they tire the defense is trailing off and we don't have any offensive ability to make up for it. I know that we want to work the ball into the posts but none of our perimeter players have the ability to consistently get the ball inside...we don't have one player who looks to be an above average passer, IMO. We don't really have any guards that can beat anyone off the dribble either; they're mostly all jump shooters. Miller doesn't look nearly as comfortable on offense when he is not commanding the ball, but if you let him play the point-forward role he will turn it over way too much. Knight looked really good in the last home game, but prior to that he looked kinda lost in the games I watched.

I don't know what to think about this group. We've got a lot of players, which is different than year's past, but we still don't really have any great players. Larson, Polk, and Clements are all pretty good defenders, and when they're on the court at the same time our defense can be stifling. That's how we win games currently, but we don't have anybody that has been a consistent offensive performer this year. We badly need to find some guards who can create offense...whether it be creating their own shot or finding open teammates. College basketball is a guard oriented game, and ours are not good enough.

We haven't had any one guard score consistently, but our guards as a group have scored consistently. I agree that we don't have any great passers. Jak tries to be, and he may become one, but he isn't yet. As for offensive creativity, it's not a strength, but I'm not sure if it's that much of a weakness. Moten and Clements have tailed off since the start of the season. We haven't seen the flashes from Marcshall like we did two years ago.

As far as feeding the post, the problem has as much to do with our posts as our passers. Polk and Larson do not establish good position inside. Knight hasn't learned this yet either, but has the athleticism. Marcshall does OK at this, but I'd expect more from him. Our post up offense, when the ball has gotten inside, has been below par. Optimistically, this is an aspect that we can improve. The ability is there.

Is it just me or do our post players always seem to have to put the ball on the floor BEFORE taking a shot?

Not one of them knows how to take it up strong as soon as they touch it. That goes for second chances from offensive boards as well. I think I said somewhere else that I don't think I've ever seen a team that does as poor a job as we do getting second chance points. We usually rebound fairly well, but we don't turn those into easy buckets.
