Paul Bowker at MAC Report Online sat down and discussed the MCB's future with Ken Hoffman Friday night. The bowl lost one sponsor this year, but found a replacement. Future looks good so far ...

Unfortunately the Big Ten is seldom able to provide a bowl eligible team. Northwestern lost to BG in 2003, Purdue beat CMU last year, but other than that I can't think of another Big Ten team that has played in the game without looking it up. I think the MCB is for the 7th team in the Big Ten, so if a Big Ten team makes a BCS bowl as an at large, that pretty much takes the MCB off the table for the conference.zete wrote:I would be more appealing to me and I assume others as well, if they would have more Big Ten/MAC match-ups.
Here's the dream matchup for the Motor City Bowl next year:
MAC Champion Bowling Green vs. A 6-6 or 7-5 Michigan squad climbing back up. If that were to happen, the game would certainely sell out and be the most legitimate Motor City Bowl of all time.
UM (or OSU) will never in a million years play in the MCB. If they are bowl eligible their standings in the conference are irrelevant, one of the higher Big 10 bowls will invite them over the team that is higher in the standings. There is no way that those schools will sink to the level of playing in the MCB against a MAC team.
Yeah, that certainly makes sense, I was just thinking pie in the sky. Realistically, that game should be billed pre-season as "MAC vs. Purdue, Northwestern, or Indiana if one of those three schools has 6 or 7 wins" instead of "MAC vs. Big Ten."hammb wrote:UM (or OSU) will never in a million years play in the MCB. Right now it's essentially "MAC vs. At-Large or Big Ten #7 if they squeak out a 6-6 record and let's hope they do."
George Perles is that you!zete wrote:I would be more appealing to me and I assume others as well, if they would have more Big Ten/MAC match-ups.
