I think it's pretty ingenious and would sound hilarious sung by a huge group of people. of course, we'll all have to learn the melody and words. maybe distribute them at the next game the a-band plays at! we could defintely get some of the a-band to sing it really loud. maybe it will catch on. and since we're near the student section and above the boards, if enough of us sing it, it may reach the ice! :-D
great job Niz!

The melody is easy, you will know it when you hear it most likely. Easy one four five four progression.

Its to the tune of an old english sailing song called "Safe and Sound and Home Again"

Hey (Goalie's Name),

Not a Sieve, nor colander, nor swiss cheese,
You hardly play well enough to please.
We don't think your terrible or that you suck,
You just never seem to stop the puck.
Your playing days are almost done,
With a five hole bigger than Paris Hilton's,
Hope we're not being too mean,
'Cause you're the best player on our team.
With Self-esteem shattered and your ego broke,
Its not your fault, that D's a joke.
So Goalie Goalie Goalie let the puck go by,
and you can hear us count real high.
We'd love to sing Aye-Zig all night,
So Goalie Goalie Goalie let the puck go by!

Post Script: Be Gentle

Sorry I got the name of the song wrong, its not safe and sound... its called "Don't forget yer old ship mate"

Here is a link to a fantastic version in four part harmony: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLNRjKbelsg

I like it, but it's long. No way the end is seen knowing how fast paced and ever-changing the game of hockey is.

Shorten it up. Make it a short beer.

By using only one word from each line it gets shorter like this:

Nor play we seem
Almost bigger
Hope your self-esteem joke
Let us sing puck

If I were a goalie and I heard that I'd be looking behind me a lot.

I figure that's the beauty of versus and choruses, Sing as many or as few as we deem necessary.

Taking a cue from the obscure depths of h2o's posts, how about some haikus?

Goalie, my goalie!
Your glove hand is a weakness.
Hey Shegos, you suck.

Of course, I have a slightly less refined, non-haiku option of...

HEY (insert goalie/player/official/coach name here)!
YOUR MOM SAYS HI!
YOUR MOM SAYS HI!
YOUR MOM SAYS HI!
(etc.)

Well, just for fun, here's one I came up with:

Glove side, stick side, we don’t care!
Blue line, slot, or anywhere!
Goalie, goalie, can’t you see,
You’re no match for ol’ BG!

....thoughts?

So was it the UT education that taught you to pronounce it "mask-ed"? Or was it the UT education that didn't teach you how to count to 7? :-D

An oldie but goody:
You're a goalie tried and true so we will do this cheer for you! Whoops! (while looking under your raised arm behind you)

Neither- it was the UT education that taught me to think outside the box and not allow myself to be limited creatively by what some Japanese guys thought centuries ago.

OSU's #1 goalie is Dustin Carlson

Post by Freddie »

To the tune of "Dust In The Wind" by Kansas:

I close my eyes, only for a moment and the puck goes in.
All those shots pass between my pads, another goal allowed.
Dustin Carlson,
All the Bucks have is Dustin Carlson.
