I would think there is a very good chance that this is exactly what happened. For some reason my mind is foggy on our QB situation though, so how many are we in line to take this year? Hunter is still here. Sheehan, is only going to be a Junior. Are we in a position to take 2 QBs? If not, I would imagine that this commitment takes away Nicely's scholarship offer.

Sheehan, Beam and Hunter will all be SR's. Tanski will be a R-FR. (EDIT: and Pankratz. :-D )

Taking two quarterbacks seems like a real possibility. Sheehan and Beam come off the books after next season, and Hunter was never on the books (walk-on). The only other scholarship QB is freshman Aaron Pankratz who may or may not pan out. So yeah, you could take two, although I don't think it's absolutely necessarily, especially if you have to reach.

Thanks for clearing it up guys. Don't know why I was drawing a blank on our QBs, and I was too lazy to look it up.

With all those seniors I could see us taking a couple of QBs.

Jerry Phillips, a freshman from Clyde, Ohio, redshirted this year, and it's unclear whether he's a kicker or punter. I'm not sure Brandon had made a decision by season's end.

With Nick Iovinelli still around, the punting situation is fine for another year. But there is a vacancy at kicker, so I suppose Clawson needs to decide whether Phillips is the guy or whether he needs to sign someone.

Last I heard Clawson decided we didn't need a kicking team and was cutting all the kickers in lieu of a few more quarterbacks.

The Pankratz kid is the one I want to see develop. His recruiting video was as impressive for a throwing QB as I have ever seen.

"Matt is happy to have found what seems a perfect fit for him. Both the coaching staff and the offensive scheme they run are just what he was looking for. He committed over the phone to coach Dave Clawson and offensive coordinator Warren Ruggiero."
This is BiG....excellent news.

Scout has Nicely rated as the 93rd top QB in the nation and Schliz at 138.

They also list Nicely at 6'5" and 210 lbs. and Schliz at 6' 3" and 200 lbs. Rivals has Schliz listed at 6'2" an 182 lbs.

Scout lists both as two star recruits.

Rivals has Schliz has the 33rd ranked pro-style and a 3 star. Either way, its good news.

So... does this mean I'll see a BG quarterback under center?

It sounds like a strong possibility that we'll have a QB that is good at ball-handling...sorry, couldn't help the under center joke.

That was Brandon's game plan.
