Post by 87JR »

I just wanted to invite all BGSU band alums (and current band students) to join us for these upcoming games for 2009:

Saturday, January 10th
Men's Basketball versus Buffalo – 2:00 p.m. Tipoff
Join current students as we play for this important MAC game
Check-in will start at 1:00 p.m. in Room 257 at Anderson Arena

Saturday, January 10th
Ice Hockey versus Ohio State University – 7:05 p.m. Faceoff
Pizza before the game
Pizza/check-in will start at 5:30 p.m. in the northeast section [stands] of the Ice Arena
Mark Halford aka RUIT will direct (hopefully that won't discourage you from still joining us :D )

Sunday, February 15th
Women’s Basketball versus Central Michigan University – 3:30 p.m. Tipoff
Men’s Basketball versus Eastern Michigan University – 7:00 p.m. Tipoff

Pizza between games
Check-in will start at 2:00 p.m. in Room 257 at Anderson Arena
Eric and Courtney Boswell will direct

Please wear an orange or white shirt [preferably BGSU] and khaki pants – no jeans.

Contact Jeff Rader ’87 & ’98 at [email protected] if you are interested in playing.

V-E-R-Y funny, Ralph. I suck so I'm counting on the pity vote.

For bball, yes. For hockey, I'll be flapping my arms for take-off.

Unless I'm mistaken and my directions are just off, the A-Band moved to the northeast section in the Ice Arena so that we are closer to the student section. Just an fyi...either way...me and my roommates (all maggots) will be at both games Saturday!!!

That's why I haven't seen them on TV then. I went to one of the games against MN State-Mankato, but the band wasn't there, as they were at the BG-Toledo game. Then, I've seen two games on the NHL Network, but the band wasn't sitting in their "spot," even though I heard them.

Thanks for the clarification.

I think I'll try to make it to at least one of the games this weekend as well.

Haven't touched my trumpet since homecoming... but that seems to be the norm. :-D

I'll be there for sure. Is it possible to actually play up-beat music the crowd actually enjoys though?

I just RSVP'd for the men's basketball game. I may play at the hockey game too... just not sure yet.

I second the motion for some good stand tunes!

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

THANK YOU!

Post by 87JR »

A huge thank you to all band alums and current band students involved with the Buffalo men's basketball game and the Ohio State hockey game yesterday. While the weather didn't cooperate, many of you still braved the elements and made it back to BG.

Special thanks to Dr. Carol Hayward, Aaron Backes '06 and current Graduate Assistant, and all the current students who let us join them for the basketball game and then joined us for the hockey game. As usual, Mark Halford '93 did a great job as director at the hockey game. I also want to acknowledge Greg Christopher, Brian Delehoy, and the entire Athletic Department for all their assistance.

For those alums who couldn't make it to BG on Saturday, don't forget we have another exciting day of Falcon basketball coming up next month:

Sunday, February 15th
Women’s Basketball versus Central Michigan University – 3:30 p.m. Tipoff
Men’s Basketball versus Eastern Michigan University – 7:00 p.m. Tipoff

Pizza between games
Check-in will start at 2:15 p.m. in Room 257 at Anderson Arena
Eric and Courtney Boswell will direct

Please wear an orange or white shirt [preferably BGSU] and khaki pants – no jeans.
