Because our coaching staff is so inept, I honestly wondered if they would turn to Eno...after the 5th goal, they didn't seem to want to make a move and were almost slow in making that move after the 6th goal.
You're right PDT...heartless hockey...for the most part...and that makes me sick to my stomach. I think we've all watched this program long enough that we can identify the players that won't give up even if it's 10-1 and we still have those players on the team. Those are the types of guys that I want on my team...and I was happy to see them still grinding out there.
Overall, I was basically bored between goals. It's amazing to say that an 8-5 game could be boring, but it was. There was absolutely no flow to the game.
Over the past few games, I've thought of some things...A) it's time to split up the "S" line. You can't get consistant scoring from anyone else at this point, split them up and see if they can give a spark to someone else. B) the Perkin/Kantola line needs to be changed up. They just seem out of sorts out there. I know that they were originally with Cepis, but they had been split from him for a week or so before he left and it's been a few weeks now...fix it. C)McIlrath/McIntosh are busting their balls out there most shifts...Petruska just disappears...put them with Tommy Dee. D) For the love of all that is holy, PLEASE stop playing Krelove so damn much, let the kid sit and watch. He's not going to improve with the piss poor coaching he gets, so maybe he can learn on his own. I'll have to look at the stats but I think he and Schmidt were a -4 tonight. E) Against bigger teams, you need speed and skill or size and skill...some of the people in this lineup have NEITHER...try someone else...anyone else...there are kids in the stands that deserve a look...it's not like we're on a 9 game winning streak or anything. Hell, go to a club team practice if you don't like the players you recruited...
And Niz is 110 % correct, it's becoming a laughable insanity to watch the same thing game in and game out. Only I'm starting to wonder who's more insane?? Us, the fans who are still out there watching this debacle or Paluch who is laughing his way to the bank.

Goaltending was not strong on both sides with a lot of questionable goals for NCAA DI level. I agree with earlier posts, I wasn't impressed with OSU. They have been on a roll but that win streak has been mostly to below .500 team
Same old problems for BG: bad coaching, lack of intensity, poor defense, disaster of a power play.
A few bright spots: ok/good penalty kill, Kai Kantola had a spark and intensity throughout the game (and a nice goal late) and Nick Bailen with some offense (2 goals).
Coaching: glad Eno was finally put in, probably should have been a goal or two earlier... he looked pretty good for not seeing action since last season. Power play strategy is still a disaster, we have players that can put the puck in the net but they're not being utilized well.
Rarely does pulling the goalie late in the game work to get a goal, it is generally a useless play ESPECIALLY with a horrible power play/man advantage like BG.

I totally agree with everyone's assessment of the game. I kept saying watching the game that the team wasn't playing with any intensity. It seemed like both their heads and hearts were not into it.
Like TheKa I wasn't impressed with the Buckeyes at all. Comparing them to a team like Notre Dame it's apples and oranges.
I was glad to see Eno again and he should get the start tonight. Spratt gave up some soft goals but it wasn't all his fault. On a couple of the goals he wasn't getting the help up front he needed.
I see the Buckeyes as a very beatable team and I really hope we play better tonight.

I can only hope that the Jimmy Spratt era is over. For good. That guy gives up so many bad goals, and he's been doing it for years. Even in games in which he only gives up 2-3 goals, he gives up softies that make you scratch your head. The maddening thing is that he gets on hot streaks where he stops everything in sight some games, but then he'll unravel and give up a few soft ones before you return from the bathroom.
We scored 5 goals? I'm sorry, when you score 5 goals, you've got to win the game. If you don't the onus goes on the goaltender (and to a lesser extent the defenders playing in front)
