Game tonight
Game tonight
Uh, anyone notice that we play that team from the crap hole in Oxford? No threads on this game yet. I thought I would start one just so I could state the just hearing the name Miami brings forth a bile in my throat that is so putrid it would knock buzzards off a s**t wagon. We are down to one Jesus twin. Let's make him have a bad memory of AA.

Great thought coming from someone who doesn't really support the program...Falconboy wrote:Miami is very good and in the top echelon of the Mac and we are no where that level. We probably won't be for at least one or two more years. Its gonna take time people.

Well, judging by our attendance, he's not alone. And on this particular subject, he's right. We are not a good basketball team right now, and we are certainly not on the same level as Miami. Aside from a few years past the turn of the century, we've never really been on their level. Miami's had great teams for many years, and BG hasn't been dancing in 40 years.Metz wrote:Great thought coming from someone who doesn't really support the program...Falconboy wrote:Miami is very good and in the top echelon of the Mac and we are no where that level. This isn't about who supports the program and who doesn't, its about facts. Fact is we just lost two straight at home, which pretty much guarantees that we're going to be under .500 in conference because we cannot, I repeat, CAN NOT win on the road.
24. Quality provider of the truth, for better or for worse.
The last few minutes of a game inspired a lot of excitement. We were down 15 at one point and had cut the lead back to 1 with a very short amount of time left. It seemed like we actually had a shot to win.
Unfortunately missed shots and wasted attempts bogged us back down in the final minute or so. IMO we should have focused on getting the ball closer to the basket or getting easier shot-opportunities before actually shooting...especially with such a close game on the line. (but then again, I'm not much of a basketball nut)
On a positive note, I like that Thomas kid we played for a while today. Showed a spark that overshadowed what most of our team was doing.

Do you really hate Miami that much? Sounds like you're talking about UT here. I don't really mind BG all that much. Now Ohio and Akron, that's a different story...BGorDeath wrote:Uh, anyone notice that we play that team from the crap hole in Oxford? No threads on this game yet. Yeah, I know Miami is good, but I still hate them. Or is it despise? Or is it detest?ZiggyZoomba wrote:Miami is good.
Thomas showed some nice hustle last night. I felt when they took him out, the press didn't disrupt Miami as much.

I was listening to the game and watching on GameTracker. Getting the ball closer to the basket but we missed 6 gimmie shots (within 4 ft of the basket) in the last 4 minutes of the game. Didn't seen to matter where we shot at.
The half-court offense is atrocious, to say the least.
I'd say about 1 every 3 posessions we actually advance the ball inside the 3 point line.. and I've been watching/Coaching basketball for years.. and I can't figure out what the "Goal" of 95% of the possessions have been... it's bad..
not to mention.. I think our depth/coaching staff's management of said depth is a KILLER to us:
If a player misses a shot, he comes out... WAY more evidently so than in Dakich's system (you heard me!).. NOBODY has a chance to get into a rythem.. which could explain some of our late game shooting struggles

We aren't a terrible basketball team either. In fact, I'd rather watch the team now than the last few years. The last 2 home games we've lost, we have actually had a chance to win so I don't think it's that we aren't on the same level as Miami. If we were getting blown out rather than not playing consistently, maybe I'd agree, but that's not the case.bgsufalcon24 wrote:Well, judging by our attendance, he's not alone. I'm just curious when you started following BG basketball? Stop looking at banners in Anderson...that "aside from a few years past the turn of the century" comment is ridiculous. If there was ever a time we were on the same level or higher, it was definitely before the turn of the century and not past.
You sicken me.
