I have read the article about Nicely withdrawing his oral commitment to BG and that he is now shopping around a few other MAC schools like Ohio, Akron & Toledo, but does anyone know if we are still in the running for his services or have we lost any chance at him all together?
GO BG!!!

I went to the same high school as him, so i still have a few friends back home that know him. What they told me that he has said is that he is no t committed to BG like he was before, but it is still on his list. This past weekend he went to Ohio for a visit, and a few weeks ago to Toledo. He is telling people at home his main reason for looking other places is because he didn't get called right away. I guess people at home are telling him to stop acting like a child (which he is a child i guess, ha) and don't use that as a reason.

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it! Well, maybe there's still hope he'll pick BG after all.

Good luck to him...may he avoid being 2009's version of Sean Hakes.

Frankly...I'm not suprised nor all that disappointed seeing as how we have a high profile QB recruit coming in from Cali. You don't see too many, if any, MAC programs landing two *** QB's in one class.

Not sure the stars really mean anything. Toledo landed two 3-star QB's in the 2007 class in DJ Lenehan and Travaris Cadet. Cadet left after the fall of 2007 for a JUCO program and DJ has been backing up Aaron Opelt.

I wouldn't be happy about BG passing up on someone. Didn't you pass up on Nate Davis too!

Not according to information on a BSU site from long ago. I am surprised you did not know this all great and knowledgeable RF ;)

DUAL-THREAT QB SOON TO MAKE DECISION
NATE DAVIS, 6-3, 215, QB (Bellaire, Ohio)
Davis has a 4.8 40-time...Ranked as the #15 dual-threat QB in the nation according to Rivals.com...Has thrown for over 1500 yards his senior season adding to his 2100 yards last season...Also All-District as a SG for basketball team...Averaged 29 points and 14 rebounds as a junior...Currently has offers from BALL STATE, Indiana, Bowling Green, Toledo, & Cincinnati but has eliminated the Hoosiers & Falcons.
12/15/05 UPDATE: Davis has committed to BALL STATE UNIVERSITY.

Well, maybe BG didn't pass him up.......I was just taking flipper's post to be serious and the truth.

However, those sites are not always accurate to the situation. Perfect example is Alex Gillette. He had an offer from Toledo's old coaching staff. When the new staff came in they went another direction. Our former QB coach moved to EMU as the OC there and offered Gillette. He has committed to EMU now and they list him with an offer from UT, but he really doesn't have one anymore and had no chance of signing with UT after the new staff took over.

Another example is Nate Davis himself. Toledo offered him, but our OC at the time didn't want him and wanted Aaron Opelt instead.......Woops! No wonder why he isn't our OC anymore. So anyway despite getting the UT offer, he was told on his official visit that the offer wasn't valid and we were going another direction. That's when he finally decided on Ball State, which allowed Opelt to come to UT as he was considering UT and BSU until Davis went to BSU.

I don't know if I could find any of the discussions from the time, but rumor had it that BG & UT both backed off of Davis around the same time, actually. I think both teams were concerned whether he'd ever qualify, especially with his dyslexia.

The information on recruiting sites is pretty spotty at best when it comes to MAC schools.
