BG/Meechigoon Saturday night

Post by FindlayFalcon »

End of the 2nd--all tied up--3-3. Horrell having a great game. Sounds like Christie may have scored his first college goal!! They thought it was Unger but score sheet says Christie. Way to go Christie.

It was Unger's goal, not Christie's. Oh well. Hey, it's a goal. We'll take it :D

Falcons lose a tough one 5-4. They really played well tonight. Sounds like the place was rocking tonight but unfortunately it sounded like the Weasels had as many fans as we did. They were very loud. Horrell got #3 star. He even got an assist.

Tough night tonight--with the loss and with the news of Siggy. The guys really pulled it together tonight.

The Michigan people would sound louder on the radio due to their seats being in the section right below the BG radio broadcast spot in section G.

I want to also say how proud I was in the team's efforts tonight. They played hard and gave all they had.

To Jordan and his family - our prayers are with you. Thank you for all you have done for BG hockey fans and all you will do for us in the future.

Falcons Left It On The Ice Tonight

Post by BGSU99 »

I was very proud of the effort of our team tonight. I was shocked and saddened to hear about Jordan Sigalet. My thoughts and prayers will go out to Jordan and the Sigalet Family. It was an exciting game, great crowd, and Horrell made some great saves tonight to keep us within striking distance. Our team played hard tonight. Hopefully, the fans will continue to come out and support these kids. As for Jordan, if any kid can take something like this and turn it into a positive, I'm betting that Jordan will. It was a great effort by Coach Paluch and the team tonight and it's a shame they didn't get the result they were looking for.

I thought that the team showed a lot of heart coming back from that debacle of a game Friday night, especially knowing that the announcement about Jordan was about to become public. I think this shows exactly what this team is about...they are a TEAM and they never QUIT! They hung tough with the #4 team in the nation tonight and it says some GREAT things about the direction this team is headed...and that is UP! GREAT JOB GUYS!

A side note...and I feel badly complaining about this on a night like tonight, but I cannot believe what I heard coming out of section E tonight. I know for a fact that the "F*** Montoya" cheer, if that's what you want to call it...drove more than one family from the stands. These families had small children and didn't want them hearing that type of language. They were leaving in droves after the second period and the parents were none too happy about it. I can't believe what I was hearing...PLEASE someone tell me I heard incorrectly, as did about 50 other people.

Now, back to what's important...The second half of the season is going to be so fun and exciting and I just can't wait for it to start! :)

For shame...

We spend days, weeks and months on this board in EVERY sport wondering why attendance is low, and then we pack the Ice Arena (man how I wish I could have been there to see that!!!) and, regardless of who started it, run not just fans, but potential long term fans (if these families had young kids with them) because of the need to drop an F-bomb...

So who were they? And just a couple of guys can't be loud enough to be heard halfway across the arena. Some other "fans" had to be taking up the chant too. This really saddens me. If the students didn't start it---perhaps they could have put a stop to it ?????

I commented at the time how annoying and uncreateive the F- Montoya cheers were.

Then I gave the same group credit when they started the "It's All Your Fault" cheer, I thought that was funny and good.

Suppose it just depends who take the initiative to lead things.

I may be wrong but I think the It's all your fault cheer originated in Ann Arbor. Of course, they follow it up with a string of expletives!!

I'm not sure who started the "F--- Montoya" cheer...but I didn't really enjoy that one. With all the little kids in the arena, that's not cool. I did enjoy the "It's all your fault" cheer though...that was a much better cheer to chant!

The students flipping Michigan off were irking me too...there is no real reason for that. It was only a select few but honestly, I don't think some of them think about the little kids and families that watch the games in the arena. They must be able to acknowlege that it's just not students in the arena.

Other than that, the arena was rocking last night! The energy was crazy and it was awesome! When it's so loud that you can barely hear the band (I still love the band! :) ), you know it's been a good, crowd involved game!

The Michigan fans were doing the same to the student section. When I looked over there was a guy who looked like he was about 35 and his wife about the same age who first started screaming it. I agree that it shouldn't have been cheered at the game, but I've never seen the IA that full. I sent an e-mail to Krebs asking him to tell the students to censor the cheers a little.
