Desultory, indeed. Interesting nonetheless.

I was at that game with our now Mayor John Quinn and the late Marty Smith. I have a signed program from the game from Coach Joe B. Hall. It was a great experience for all of us. Coach L got us great tickets behind the Bg bench.

I remember that game. Darrell McLane controlled the floor and ran circles around Sean Sutton. McLane was the kind of player who could put the team on his back and win games, but only when he was in the mood. He left the team after one year.

That game one me a bet with my finance professor who was from U. of Kentucky.

First time I've heard about this game. So BG beat Kentucky at Rupp on my 4th birthday? I guess now I know why I was drawn to BGSU. Always wondered how I ended up there.

I thought we played Northern Arizona the next day? The program shows Marshall and Ark. State as the other teams in the tourney....

We listened to the UK game on the radio and amid the excitement we drove down the next day to see the championship game. I remembered it being Northern Arizona and they had a big 7 footer, and BG looked like they partied a bit too much after knocking off the Wildcats at Rupp.... maybe it was Ark. St. the next night..

What's crazy is Kentucky went 64-10 all time in the UKIT, and only lost their first game of the tournament three times since it started in 1953. That's quite a feather in BG's cap. The tournament was discontinued after 1989. Pretty cool all around.

Says he had one FT attempt, yet no points. Interesting.....what an experience that must have been though. Wish I could have been there :?

Grant's dad had a name for McClane- "Much Traveled", due to the strong academic principles that led him on a nationwide search through a substantial number of institutions of higher education searching for that perfect intellectual challenge.

The championship game was against Arkansas State. They killed us I was there as well. I was behind the bench as well. A great win against UK though made the trip worth it.

Yes, THAT Brad Morrison... This was before he quit the team and started showing up to home games wearing the opposition's colors while rooting against BGSU and sitting in the front row of the student section though. What a great guy.

He's still at Northwood, isn't he? I know he owns a snow-removal/landscape business as well.
