Heisman Thoughts

Post by BGGrad01 »

I expected Matt Leinart to win because no one seemed to want Jason White to win because he's probably not the next great QB in the NFL, but is Leinart really more outstanding than White (or Peterson or Bush or Smith for that matter)? I don't think so. I have watched USC several times this year and I haven't been overly impressed with Leinart. I can't put my finger on it, but I don't think he's that great. I'm hoping the Heisman jynx kicks in on Leinart and OU buries USC in Miami next month. I was rooting for USC last year because I thought they got a raw deal. I thought they were better than Oklahoma and deserved to play in the Sugar Bowl. This year, I think that Oklahoma and Auburn are both better than USC and the Trojans should have been left out in the cold (or at least the Rose Bowl).

It comes down to being a popularity contest.... Reggie Bush and Adrian Peterson were better than Leinhart but since he was a QB he won. Also the media hyped the hell out of leinhart and that will help with the votes. Just my opinion, id like to hear others

Probably the reason you think he doesn't look that good, is he's a lefty. Lefty QBs suck, with very few notable exceptions.

It's a fantasy league. I imagine Jacobs is winning a lot of fantasy Heismans. :)

Heisman thought-

I am miffed the back from Cal wasn't invited. He is the only guy in Div. IA to rush for over 100 yards in every game he played this season. That is outstanding as in "most outstanding football player"

Also, on Alex Smith, my dad informed me last night that the kid came to Utah with so many AP credits that he graduated after two years and has played two years as a graduate student. That is damn impressive.

who got robbed

I can't believe how little pub that stefan lefleurs from louisville got...he was the best qb this year in my opinion, and was only hurt by the fact that petrino would often put brohm into games.
Would you like some chapagna?

LeFors' chances would have been alot better had he been in the game and led U of L to a win at Miami. I think he got a concussion and Brohm came in without losing a step.

I think Reggie Bush was the most outstanding player in college football this year (Heisman definition). Yeah, yeah, yeah, his stats aren't as good as Peterson's, DeAngelo Williams' or J.J. Arrington's, but when he was the on the field the opposing teams completely changed their defensive strategy to cover him and he still made big plays all year long. If it wasn't for Bush, USC would have lost to UCLA and it would be Auburn and Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl. They probably would have lost the opener as well against Virginia Tech without Bush.

I think the BCS title game will be a great one. Two Heisman winners and another finalist pitted against each other. A peeved co-champion seeking avenge their split title. The Heisman jinx cropping up again.

The question is which QB gets jinxed, the guy who won this year, or White? Will they both suck in the NFL?

So basically you are saying both QBs will stumble around, and the defense will be the only side of either team that scores!
