19. DE Dylan Farrington from Adrian

25. QB Austin Collier from Standish-Sterling

36. RB Ali Alaboody from Dearborn Fordson

49. OT Kyle Bryant from Detroit Southeastern

You know, I tend to be very cool with this recruiting stuff, especially the rankings of players because you just don't know who's going to turn out well and who's going to bust. But I will say that if these reports and rankings are indeed somewhat true, we're going to have one hell of a recruiting class coming in 2009. Coaching is important, but recruiting is what drives a program. If you bring in the athletes, the X's and O's seem to work much better.

Four to BG, four to Michigan  RichRod must be looking elsewhere to improve the Wolverines.

I agree that it sure looks like Clawson is putting together a damn fine group of recruits when he had very little time to put a plan together. Seems as though I remember our former coach using the late start as an excuse for having such a bad class when he took over. And that was when there wasn't a total cleaning house of the coaching staff.

Brandon's first class had a number of *** guys, including the awesome Virgil Robinson. He definitely went the "high risk, high reward" route that first year and it definitely came back to haunt the program in 2006 when we were left with a bunch of underclassmen seeing the field because more than half of the 2003 class had blown out.

Ali Alaboody has to be one of my favorite names in the history of Falcon football

Even I was going to defend Brandon. I think that first recruiting class looked pretty good on recruiting day. Problem was that a large percentage of them washed out before ever becoming contributors.

Now in the end it makes it a horrible class, almost a lost year. But at this time in '03 we were pretty happy with things as well. Time will tell if the '09 class has better success.

Even more interesting than our FOUR is that CMU got THIRTEEN of top 50 in Mich. I recall back in the "old days" when CMU would NOT recruit kids from out of state at all...sure looks like they shifted their focus this year. And what about MSU getting EIGHT of top 10 to UM's one?

The early signs are encouraging. He moves with a purpose, I like that.

MSU kicked UofM's butt in-state. In fact if former UofM star, Thomas Wilcher, wasn't coach of Detroit Cass Tech and helped steer 3 of the 4 recruits on the list to UofM, they likely would have had nobody from Michigan.

Well, this is just one reporters take on things so I would not read too much into it.

I'd read a lot into it....Mick McCabe has been covering HS sports in Michigan for about 30 years.

This does appear to be a strong class. If only BG could land 4 of Ohio's top 50.
