MWAHAHAHAHA!!!

Point to J4H. This week's AP Poll should be coming out later this afternoon, but the ESPN/USA poll doesn't come out until Tuesday.

Looks like we dropped to 3 votes and remained in 35th place in the AP poll.

I guess we need to win every game by 55 points.

Rankings don't matter. The committee doesn't use them to seed, and they are especially useless when the ball goes in the air in the NCAA Tournament. Just ask Vanderbilt.

Well I don't agree there. The committee doesn't use them, that's true. But potential recruits and potential fans sure do. They're not the most important thing in the world, but they do matter in some respects.

We're probably not going to get ranked no matter what we do the rest of the season. Our strength of schedule simply is not strong enough. Plus, the MAC is a one-bid league this year -- Coach Miller has said so himself -- so the regular-season games really have little bearing on our NCAA Tourney hopes. It would be great to win another regular-season title, but the only games that really matter are at the Q in March.

It just seems flat-out wrong for a 28-3 or 27-4 team to not reach the NCAA tournament, regardless of schedule. Especially when you consider that if BG does get through the rest of the regular season unbeaten (which is a big if, I'm not saying it's going to happen, just throwing it out there), they will have won 8 games against teams in the RPI top 100, and possibly 2 against the RPI top 50. So while our overall schedule is brought down by teams like Gardner-Webb, Buffalo, and Eastern Michigan, we've played very well against teams of similar opposition with the exception of Temple. St Bonaventure, Hartford, Dayton, Kent State, and Miami were all very good wins.

Our RPI right now is 57. An undefeated regular season would likely drop that number into the 35-45 range. That should get us in. The MAC, while it is likely to be a 1-bid league, is actually faring quite well nationally this season, as it ranks 11th in conference RPI. 4 MAC teams, Bowling Green, Ball State (big game on Tuesday night coming up at AA), Kent State, and Miami are in the top 100 of the RPI. It should be noted that a victory Tuesday night against Ball State would really help boost us in the RPI rankings since Ball State is ranked 62nd in RPI. We'd be on the threshold of the top 50.

Now if we go ahead and lose a couple to bad teams in conference, then yes, we'll need the conference tourney to make it to NC's. But to think that one loss in March disqualifies us is a little presumptuous.

Moved up to 28th place in the coaches poll. #23,#24,#25 are almost a lock to drop a game this week so if we win both of our games we may crack the Top 25 next week!!
