Yeah- I take back what I said about wanting fans like him- apparantly he got to that age where you're old enough to swear and too young to realize its not cool.

And LB-LOL- I saw about thirty folks standing outside the Denny's by Penta this morning. A half hour of standing in the 12 degree weather to save 6$ seems like a less than sterling way to use my time. But at least they were REAL Denny's fans. I mean they WERE standing.

No one is saying you don't have the right to stand at the games. Are we clear on that one?
DustinXtreme wrote: i show support for the team unlike some other people who sit on their butts for the entire game
Standing does not equivocate supporting. I'll agree that those who sit texting with their back to the game or whatever they may be doing, they aren't supporting the team. But at least they're there unlike the other 20,000+ students at the university. If they want to spend their time sitting at the game with their friends just being at the game,it's their RIGHT. Just as you've said
DustinXtreme wrote: i'll say it again i have the same right as anybody else

It's their RIGHT to sit, text, pay no attention, or not even show up.
DustinXtreme wrote: i don't hear none of the other students complaining
I do think it's annoying so I sit on the other side mid court, all the way at the top. It's your right, I'm not going to tell you (the group of standing people as a whole, not you explicitly) to sit down, it's a sporting event. I just chose not to. It's my RIGHT to sit down.

I personally enjoy the game of basketball. I have my whole life. I support and cheer for BG but most of all I like watching basketball. I like to watch the X's and O's of the game, the little things most who've never played don't appreciate. That's why I go to the games. You go to the games to stand and be Xtreme, and that's your RIGHT, as it's my RIGHT to watch the game how I wish to watch.

I'm glad you're there supporting the team, players, university and all that jazz. It's good for the school and the team. But it's not cool to say the rest of us aren't fans. As you've harped on several times it's your right to stand and cheer how you do. You're right, it is your right, as it's everyone else's right to cheer and support how they want to.

Can we just get rid of this thread, it's the same nonsense over and over again.

This thread reminds me of an old anecdote. I can't really remember it fully, but it starts with "Never argue with an idiot". Anybody remember the full saying?

Never argue with an idiot. They bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

By the way, I love going back and rereading this forum from the beginning. It arcs from fan support, to standing, to diarrhea, to Denny's, back to standing, and now the above quote. At least we have contained the whining to one "topic"... for now.

You know, I've really been struggling with this issue lately. Sure, performance isn't where it could be. Sure, the arena is dilapidated. But its still Anderson Arena, THE HOUSE THAT ROARS. And its still basketball. We BG fans are so into history, yet we seem to forget the glory days of AA. As someone mentioned earlier, this is one of only a few arenas in college basketball where you can actually be on the floor, merely a few feet away from the players. This is my dream come true. That arena has the potential to be the toughest place to play in the MAC, but im depressed to think that I will never see those days return.

I think better scheduling would definately play to our favor, but also realize that a lot of that is out of our control. I think winning would help, but we have won most games at home this year, and it really hasn't helped at all. I think a well defined student section would also help. I'll suggest this taking the risk of being torn apart, but what if the band moved to the sideline and the student section was put where the band is. It is after all the traditional location of student sections. That way we wouldn't hear any complaints of 'I cant see sit down, be quite, etc.' I think that would be helpful to student attendance, but really what good does that do for GA?? Nothing. So its a double, may be even triple edged sword here, and I would hate to be in charge of fixing it.

I really hope the Stroh will have a standing room only section for students as someone mantioned earlier. I also hope we can keep the same atmosphere with the Stroh. I do see some problems with student attendance, seeing as it will be located on a far end of campus, but I believe it can be the point of revival for our BB programs, attendance wise. I hope i'm right.

If you are mostly talking about the women's games then why the hell is this in the men's bball forum?!? besides you must not have been at the game last night...there were several times that everyone stayed in their seats and still made a hell of a lot of noise...

for the love of allah and all that is holy please think before you make any more comments on this!!

Not sure what you mean by "on the floor" but a quick search found several arenas that have floor seating, including UCLA, UIC and the University of Toledo. I'm guessing its not that uncommon. YOU can't afford those seats at UT and I can't afford those seats but they are there. ;-)

I mean we have a student section where you could reach out and grab the players on the floor. There is literally nothing between you and the game. and its FREE for us students!!! I could care less about UT :-D Actually I could afford their tickets, but I'm getting a quality education here at BG and I realize any amount of $$$ is wayyy too much to see Turdledo attempt to play basketball.

The kind of quality education that, after 5,000,000 posts by your fellow Falcons railing against the use of "I could care less", still has you saying "I could care less" when you mean "I couldn't care less?" That kind of quality education?
