you know, there is another possibility. The University could well be putting the rink on hold because they want to explore and actually maybe even try a more expansive remodel of the building or even potentially a new facility...

Also that said BG is a state School...I wonder if the Univ should applies for some bail out funds... a new rink would create jobs...toss on on some solar panels and a wind turbine and BGSU hockey just became a greenie wet dream...eco ice

I had a dream like that once! But you do bring up some good points. If an ice arena is say in a 5-10 year plan there's no use in putting alot of money into the current one and then spending more money to build a completely new arena. Not sure about how Ohio works, I know in Minnesota some of the schools are getting state support (i.e. Bemidji State-http://bemidjievents.com/ and UMD-http://arena.decc.org/ [/url]).

The Minnesota arenas are all in conjunction with the city and are used as a convention center etc. BG's situation is completely different.

Bemidji also benefits from a rather robust tourist trade [it's where Paul Bunyan went to high school met Babe.] The city is better able to justify and afford the cost of this type of civic project.

I hate what our Gov has become, and all the mistakes made over the last 24 years and I am absolutely horrified by all the ground work for even larger mistakes being laid out right now by our first multi-race president and his Socialist regime.

Now the reason your analogy doesn't work is because my blasting my like or dislike for him is making a statement of fact. I hate Bush. Were I droning on about Obama being a Muslim, which factually he isn't, or Bush being the Anti-Christ, which, we can mostly assume he isn't, then you would have a point.

You of all people should know that nasty little rumors, be they good or bad, can and do fester into reality. Especially when kiddies and old farts want to wallow in "what-ifs" that mostly have to do with the end of BGSU hockey.

The ADs don't like getting drawn into every rumor known to man. So no response to this point isn't shocking, likely because there isn't any truth to it. You know this. Most people here know this. But the only people ignoring that, effectively giving life to the insanity of it, are those quietly giving seemingly rational thought to BGSU being better of it it were true, or seriously talking hypothetically about it being so. I know you, among others here, have seen exactly this kind of thing before.
