McCoy in hot water
.178 is serious business. For a woman, that is probably equivalent to somewhere in the neighborhood of 10 beers. A person that drunk would be obviously impaired, stumbling and slurring speech. What she did was very stupid and very dangerous, both to herself and many others

People make mistakes, it is part of life and she will learn from this. Sure she will probable miss up to 5 games. This womens team is deep and losing her will hurt but I am sure who ever will step in will be ready to play and play hard. Coach Miller will make sure this does not effect the team and I would look for this not to be even discussed from here on out.
I would look for Jess or Jen to get the starting nod... mostly likely Jen..
To be honest, I wouldn't would love to see Tara slide down the the 4 and see if Albert or Zuercher could play some 5 for us along with Giese. I would rather see that than us go too small unless your talking about somebody like Clapper coming in and being that 4th guard which actually gives us a bigger lineup as Clapper is at least 6'1. Athleticism would go down a bit but the outside shooting of the lineup would be given a boost. We could honestly survive with Tara sliding down to the 4 and then back up to the 5 when necessary.
Can you speak ENGLISH and USE GRAMMAR please. Never read a sentence with wouldn't would back to back???
Oh man, ONE typo. What a BIG deal! Your an English teacher aren't you?

Here's the deal
Before you rush to judge, here's a cute link http://www.ou.edu/oupd/bac.htm
2 shots an hour for 3 hours puts you at .12 if you weigh 120.
The next time you go bar hopping, take a look around and keep this in mnd. Out with yoru buds, pounding down shots, It's not much liquid and on an empty stomache, you get legally hammered quick.
The women keeping up with the guys is even worse.

Same weight, same number of drinks, in the same time, but a male will be less drunk. I always thought girls got more drunk easier because they typically weigh less. But according to this sex matters. Didn't she have some "issues" at Akron also?theziggies wrote:The BG news article said her blood alcohol level was .178. The legal limit is .08. I have confidence Coach Miller will handle the situation well, but to get that tanked in-season, the night of a game no less, shows some serious issues.

Her issues at Akron were not alcohol related. They had to do with some other things that were going on. Nikki didn't like some of the things that was going on with the new coaching staff. That is a short story of what I got from talking to Coach Kest at the final four in Cleveland right after she gave her the release. Ms. McCoy made a mistake. It's a mistake as a Coach that you really wish your kids wouldn't make, and you tell them to be carefull all the time. But, yound adults are going to make mistakes, and you have to help them get through it and become better people because of it. Thank God no one got hurt, and move on. She will have a suspension and some before and after practice conditioning I'm sure, but I feel comfortable saying that Coach Miller and the rest of the crew will help her get through this. I'm sure no one feels more embarrased and ashamed than Nikki McCoy.

I don't think she is allowed to attend practice..HoustonFalcon wrote:Her issues at Akron were not alcohol related. They had to do with some other things that were going on. Duke BABY!
lol what a ridiculous thing to say. So, because she likely wasn't the only one driving drunk that night, it isn't that big of a deal? Makes perfect since I guess... This isn't a "kids being kids" situation. That would be getting drunk and passing out at the bar, or puking on the floor or something. Operating a vehicle roughly two times over the legal limit is blatant stupidity.Falcon Commander wrote:how much did she drink?
do you think she was the only one driving that night that had been drinking?
With that said, I really hope she is able to rebound from this, learn a lesson, and move on with her life.

I did not see this anywhere else in the thread yet, but Niki has been suspended indefinitely by Coach Miller:

anyone who tests .17 is a heavy drinker, not a casual drinker. this girl needs intervention and quick. She should be off the team for the remainder of the year, be required to enter a rehab facility and evaluated prior to returning to the team. If she doesn't agree to these sanctions, she should lose any benefits given to her by the university. She has let the team down and the University. Logical consequences for one's actions. She had no valid reason whatsoever to be operating a motor vehicle. I wish her well.

Re: suspended player
Rehab because you blew a .17? I've probably been that drunk at least 20 times in my life, and I don't really drink much anymore. Granted, I haven't driven after that kind of night, but 8 drinks in 3 hours is not nearly as troubling as you make it out to be.trooperden wrote:anyone who tests .17 is a heavy drinker, not a casual drinker. this girl needs intervention and quick.
