i feel like nate miller lost this game for us tonight. I know that it wasn't just him, and that nobody really played well, but it seems like Nate consistently does poorly from the free throw line and then makes poor decisions in the closing moments of games. He puts up good numbers a lot but those don't show the times that he just makes poor decisions with his shots or holding on to the ball. Sometimes he tries to carry the load on his back way too much and the team pays for it.

I really can't understand why you would post something like that. Without Nate, we would have been blown out. Sure he missed a couple free throws, so what? The guy played as hard as I have ever seen. He went after loose balls and forced steals all night. He was in the game, everyone else was not. Everyone else just kind of stood there. I commend Nate for fighting hard. At least one player wanted to win. I don't know how you can say any one player lost this game. The TEAM lost. My God, here comes the blame game again....

I think Miller had a net neutral effect on the game. He did make some bad decisions, but he also made 2 huge 3 pointers near the end of the game to get us within striking distance. Had he not gotten a bad roll on that layup at the end, it would have been a one possession game, and we might be talking about how amazing he is and how he put the team on his back and carried us to a win.

In his defense...when we were pretty much down for the count with a minute or less left he made 2 3-pointers IN A ROW in about 15 seconds and gave us another chance I didn't even think we had.

He's been better about his free throw shooting the past few games, but this one was not his best effort. And it was definitely not the team's best effort either, he wasn't the only one missing free throws.

I agree. His decision making is horrible. There were two fastbreak opportunities were he did not pass the ball ahead intranstion that came up empty. In fact we never pass the ball ahead in transition. Everyone wants to be a point guard and handle the ball, but no one wants show leadership like a point guard. No one wants to lead by example everyone wants to score first and play team ball later. There was no intensity on the offensive end because we do not get the ball in the post to make the defensive honest. And our guards do not gap or penetrate the ball. People need to read the "Observation" thread and compare it to what they saw tonight.

Your right, one cannot say the any one player lost the game. All of them lost the game! Nate scored the most points, but he did not have the most impact. It is possible for that to happen. We have a flat game now we want to start a fire the coach thread? How about a make the players start taking responsibility thread?

I was just looking over the box score of all our games...and while it does hold true always its interesting to not that this team wins game when Brian Moten is shooting the ball and scoring.... Miller and Clements are consistent when Moten score also we seem to win... Maybe it a third scorer thing

I wasn't at the game, but one player rarely, if ever, loses a game by himself.

I'm not a huge fan of Nate's game, but this is probably not the time to dog him. His improved play has been the biggest reason why we started winning the past few weeks. He stepped up and was putting up good game after good game. Last night may not have been another one, but it doesn't sound like any of his teammates played well either.

The biggest problem I have with Nate is that he is forced into playing this point forward type role that doesn't really suit him. Until one of our PGs steps up and starts commanding the offense we Nate is being forced to do it. He's a bit turnover prone and not the most efficient primary ball handler, but if his teammates are not willing to play that role somebody else has to, and that has been Nate most of the year. I don't know if the fault for this lies on the PGs (both of whom are underclassmen), the coaches (who may be telling Nate to play this role), or Nate himself (who may demand the ball to play this role), but until we get a more efficient player willing to command the offense this is what we get. This team must start getting something consistent from their backcourt if they're going to make a run in the MAC tournament.

I think its because in both cases, we took EMU completely for granted and had written a W on the board before the game even started. That kind of overconfidence will kill you every time.

You are absolutely correct. That is what I saw at the game yesterday and on the football field last fall.

Me too. The Falcons came out flat and uninspired against a weak team. EMU didn't impress me at all and we took them for granted until it was too late. For a team that was 0-11 on the road and the average margin of defeat was 17.5 pts??? Unacceptable.

Did see Corey Partridge near the end of the game and he is doing well with his rehab. Chuck Sharon was also in the house and CP said he is training over at the Sebo Center.

I agree, Nate doesn't make good decisions at times and is a ball hog. Pass the ball Nate!

Bingo!! I can't understand everyone's thought process. Nate was very aggressive last night, and when you are aggressive, sometimes you will make mistakes. But like my dad always told me, 'a bad decision is better than making no decision at all'. He was bold and he wanted to win. I dont know how you can fault the kid for trying.
