WOW!!!!!

Good job evoeryone!!! We made it a whole thread without it turning into a "Fire SP" or complaining about our Arena, or complaining about the administration!!! I'm impressed! :-D

Cody Chupp

I'm sorry, I usually think chants like those Saturday are usually uncalled for, but I will make an exception for Mr. Chupp. Apparently those of you complaining don't remember what he did to deserve that term of endearment. He nearly killed one of our cleanest players. He reared beck and deliberately hit him in the throat. After they got him off the ice, I was talking to the paramedics and they said if he had hit him any harder, Chupp would have crushed his trachea and killed him on the spot. When you pull a stunt like that, you deserve what you get.

Personally, I'm waiting for that chant to come from the entire student section.

Applause and cheer is acceptable. The occasional BG...SU is acceptable. The let's go falcons...overused. The playing of Ay-Zig should only be used after a goal. The use of it otherwise makes it annoying. The fight song should be played at the conclusion of each period. Lastly, get rid of the friggin' band. I love the fact that it means more people at the game, but come on it's a hockey game not a football game. There is no marching at the end of the period. Hockey should sell itself. The hardest hitting and fastest game on the planet needs no gimmicks to sustain itself. People don't come to games to say the same thing in unison. They come to see some people hit and get hit and some solid stick work. All the lame chants are for plugs and pylons anyhow.
Just my 2 cents after a great day of hockey as the Leafs win and BG wins. Doesn't happen too often eh?
Seriously, go hang out in the ECHL arenas. Or the UHL. Either way, they're about the same and EXACTLY what you are describing. This is COLLEGE HOCKEY!

For someone who doesn't like chants, you sure do seem to love to do the Sioux chant.

First of all, calling Todd one of our cleanest players is pretty hilarious...do you not watch him? he does everything in his power to piss people off, which i have no problem with at all :-D just pointing that out....secondly, chupp was guilty of a cross check and todd's head just happened to be tilted back...it was an unlucky break. it's fun to keep picking on Chupp as a player, but creativity could have been useful for the chants

agreed :-D when we started it I really didn't think it would actually catch on, I think Terry said the same thing as well, once it actually caught on it was great, except I found it hard not to laugh while doing it

Those are the kind of cheers I like. They are funny, witty and family-friendly. Thank you to whoever started that one :-)

Yeah, I was definitely laughing more than cheering at that point. Terry just lost it.

I think profanity should only be used in extreme situations....like when your football team blows a 20 point 4Q lead against Buffalo
There is no other way to finish a season other than yelling at the top of your lungs among BG's players holding the Peace Pipe aloft!

NO! That's when you blame your fanbase for not showing up in 20 degree weather.

Ah the Good old days of the 70's and 80's when you could sit behind the opponent's bench. Profanity was not needed- just constant harassment. tOSU coaches could never take it and would start to jaw with us. NOT A GOOD IDEA.

Personally- Go GREEN, GO WHITE, GO SUCK AN EGG. is brilliant. "That's debatable" provided a vocabulary lesson for my young boys at the time. A contest should be held for such creative cheers for other schools .

Profanity is much more accepted now, I know. But cleverness never goes out of style.
Even Matt Clever never goes out of style...or was he ever in- I always forget. 8-)

One of the funniest nights was when Ron Mason first left BG and came back with state. Several of our fans dressed up and had a Mason look alike contest and kept yelling for Mrs. Mason to choose. I do believe they all went over during the breaks and visited with her. Even Ron had to laugh.

Hockey was so much fun. I just wish you all could experience what we did. The memories are just so awesome.

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."
