East Division Player of the Week

Lauren Prochaska, Bowling Green, So., Forward, Plain City, Ohio (Jonathan Alder)

Prochaska averaged 28.0 points per game as the Falcons won two more contests to improve to 22-2 on the season and 11-0 in the MAC. She shattered the school record with 43 points in Sunday's win over Central Michigan, breaking the BG record by eight points, and fell just one point shy of the MAC record. She was 14-of-18 from the field, 5-of-8 from 3-point land and 10-of-11 from the free-throw line vs. CMU, adding seven rebounds and five assists. Against arch-rival Toledo on Thursday, scored 13 points and had a pair of assists in the Falcons' win.

At this point, can we rename the award "Bowling Green player of the week"?

This is the 4th LP has been named MAC player of the week. I think a MAC player of the year award isn't far off...

I haven't checked the stats, but has anybody else had the MAC POW that many times? I would have to think she would get it right now and there's still a fair amount of season left.

According to the write up on the official athletics site, that's actually her fifth. 4? 5? Who's counting? It's awesome either way:P

She has five, no other SCHOOL has won more than four this year. Kowalska from Kent has won three, but 3 < 5. :-D

The only other player I can think of that's in the conversation is Anna Kowalska, but with KSU below .500 in conference play, that has to hurt her chances. Kara Murphy's a great scorer, but she doesn't contribute much elsewhere and Akron is awful.

I'd have to think it's Prochaska's to lose at this point.
